La Noche

La Noche is one of Puerto Vallarta’s best-known gay nightlife venues, located at Lázaro Cárdenas 263 in the heart of the Zona Romántica. Open since the early 2000s, this multi-level bar has become a familiar meeting point for locals, regular winter visitors and LGBTQ+ travelers discovering the city for the first time. Its winning combination of drag shows, male dancers, cocktails and an open-air rooftop means you can experience several different moods without changing address. In a neighborhood where bar-hopping is practically an Olympic discipline, that can be a very useful feature.

The main level is where much of the entertainment takes place. Drag performers bring comedy, lip-syncing, costumes and plenty of audience interaction to the stage, with shows generally scheduled during the earlier part of the night. Puerto Vallarta has a particularly active drag and cabaret scene, and La Noche provides an accessible introduction to it. Depending on the season, the room may contain Mexican regulars, North American visitors escaping winter, couples, groups celebrating a birthday and solo travelers hoping to make a few new friends.

One of La Noche’s biggest attractions is its open-air rooftop garden bar. The terrace offers fresh air, views across the neighborhood and a more conversational environment than the busy main room. It is a good place to share a cocktail, flirt without shouting over the music or simply take a strategic pause before returning to the show downstairs. Puerto Vallarta’s warm climate makes the rooftop especially enjoyable, although tropical rain occasionally has its own dramatic entrance planned.

La Noche is busiest during the high season, weekends and major LGBTQ+ events, but it can also work as an early stop before exploring the surrounding clubs. The central location makes this easy: many of the Zona Romántica’s most popular gay bars are only a short walk away. Arrive earlier if you want a good view of the drag show and a more relaxed drink. Come later if dancers, louder music and a livelier crowd are your priorities.

The business has been advertised for sale, but this should not be confused with a closure announcement. La Noche continues to operate while a buyer is sought, and any future ownership change could naturally affect its program or concept. Check its official channels for current performances, opening hours and special events before making a dedicated journey.
