Jozef has been hosting in Prague since misterb&b started. If you're planning a romantic trip or gay getaway to the Czech capital, his city tips are essential reading. Why not rent with him the next time you visit Prague and stay like a gay local...
Hey Jozef! What makes Prague a favorite gay destination?
Prague has always been very gay-friendly. As most Czech people are atheist, there isn't really a strong influence from religion. Prague is not a gay party city but it's definitely a destination for romance or a chilled vacation. It's hard to put the beauty of the city into words.
Sounds great! And how gay-friendly is Prague?
Prague is extremely gay-friendly, thanks to its multicultural environment and – as I just mentioned – lack of religious influence. It’s an amazing place to feel free to hold your loved one by their hand out in the street or kiss him in the most romantic places you can imagine!
We only have 48 hours in Prague. What should be on our agenda?
OK, you should start from Prague Castle before heading down the street to Charles Bridge. Cross the bridge to Old Town Square to see the astronomical clock, then get lost in the cute romantic streets until you come to Wenceslas Square, the main square of New Town.
From here, you can go either to Square of Republic with the Sand Gate and City Hall, or to Riverside to see Prague's National Theater and down the riverside to see Dancing House.

What are the best gay events that take place in Prague each year?
The most popular is Prague Pride; it's usually scheduled for the second weekend in August. All my friends from abroad and my guests have loved it.

Do you have a favorite place for eating out?
For lunch or dinner, I think the best places are Café Café and Celebrity Café. Both are gay-owned and have a unique atmosphere and amazing meal menu.
Elsewhere, you can find hundreds of amazing restaurants and cafés all around the city, but the best places are always a little bit hidden from touristy eyes! So, touch base with your host for the best tips. For a romantic candle-lit dinner, I would highly recommend Grosseto Marina Boat next to Charles Bridge: you can get a breathtaking view of Prague Castle.

And what about the best gay place for a cheap beer or happy hour?
Prague is known for its cheap beer, so, anywhere you go, you'll get a taste of the best local brews at a low price! In fact, most places offer beer for no more than €1 or €1.50. Here in Prague we don’t go for happy hours as we have them all the time. :)
Sounds good! OK, we’re ready to go dancing! What are the best gay clubs?
The most popular places for Friday and Saturday nights are Termix and Termax clubs. Both clubs are very close to each other, there's no entrance fee, and they usually get busy after midnight. Guys in the Czech Republic are normally very shy... until they have a little sip of their beer!

And what are the best alternative gay bars and clubs where you live?
For younger guys and lesbians, a favorite place is Friends, for beer or coffee and little chit-chat. Another great spot is Flirt.
Any nice parks or other places to chill in?
The Prague riverside was recently nominated by The New York Times as one of the Top 10 favorite European rivers, lakes and coastlines. Especially during spring and summer, the riverside becomes the main hang-out spot in Prague.

Finally, where can we get the best view of Prague?
There are definitely a few spots for some amazing views and pictures: try the top of Petřín tower, Prague Castle and Letná Park! ●
