The thick stone construction found throughout the finca does its work here too, keeping the space cool without needing air conditioning — helped along by a portable fan and mosquito net. Cooking happens next door: the main house, roughly 80 meters away, has the fully stocked kitchen and dining table that guests staying in this room are welcome to use. Step outside and you're surrounded by garden, with the sounds of the countryside standing in for city noise. You'll have full access to the entire cottage, as well as the property's shared amenities and common areas. The finca's caretaker greets you personally at the stone entrance gate to hand over the keys on arrival. Keep in mind the kitchen is shared with the main house, a short walk away. Carrizal, the rural stretch of La Cruz where Casa Paz sits, trades traffic for birdsong and open countryside. A nearby river invites a swim or an afternoon of fishing, while trails through the surrounding land reward early risers with sightings of local birdlife. History and nature buffs alike can spend a day at Santa Rosa National Park's dry tropical forest, and when it's time for sand and sea, Playa Rajada and Playa Rajadita are roughly 15 to 20 minutes down the road — among the most striking stretches of coastline in Guanacaste. Ambitious day-trippers can even push on to Nicaragua's beaches, about 20 minutes past the nearby border crossing. Having your own car makes all the difference in this part of Guanacaste, where the finca sits along a rural road just outside town. Expect around a 5-minute drive — about 3 km — from the stone entrance gate into La Cruz itself, home to the closest shops, sodas, and gas station. Push on another 15 to 20 minutes and you'll reach Playa Rajada and Playa Rajadita, or continue about 20 minutes to cross into Nicaragua for a beach day there. Public transit is sparse out here, so a rental car or arranged private transport is the way to go. Arrival & Departure - Check-in begins at 3:00 PM local time. - Checkout is at 11:00 AM local time. - To ensure a smooth arrival for incoming guests, please honor the checkout time. - Unauthorized late checkouts will incur an additional fee. - The reservation must be booked by a legal adult; children are welcome to stay as part of the group.
