The Reveal

CozyRelaxing

The Yurt at Solar Solitude sits behind the barn, and the 8.4 acres Solar Solitude occupies is available for exploring. The adjacent George Washington National Forest is ideal for hiking, and the Lost River State Park is just minutes away. Sit in the living room and enjoy the quiet beauty of nature while feeling the warmth from the wood stove or gaze up at the stars through the dome, or out on the expansive deck. WIFI works well for those who prefer to stay connected and/or telework!

I have security camera(s) outside of my place

Hi everyone! My husband and I live in Washington, DC, and we have land in the LGBT-friendly Lost River, WV area. In Mathias, we have a yurt on a nice, secluded piece of land. We are making it available for periodic rentals.

Host recommendations

no smoking inside the yurt we use natural rain water, collected from the barn roof into a cistern. You'll want to not use an excessive amount of water during your stay, but it's enough for showering, cooking, etc.

No relaxing here! Decent place but we had a awful time when the host sent a construction crew for multiple days during our stay. Not only were we blocked from the majority of the property, but the vinyl walls of the yurt are useless against the sounds of heavy machinery, and I had to reschedule some work there due to the noise. We also had a problem with flies finding their way into the yurt, apparently through the seams, and we didn't appreciate the surveillance cam on the property.
