My husband, Michael, and I welcome you this perfect remote setting for a few days of just getting away yet close enough to Watauga Lake, Boone and Bristol for a little exploring. Michael and I have lived on this road for nearly 10 years and love our two acres of paradise. In our time here we have never encountered any hassles or bigotry. In fact we have made friends with several “nearby” folks. There are two lofts, each with a single bed but must be able to safely climb a ladder. Bedroom has a queen bed and direct access to the spacious deck. Kitchen has a refrigerator, sink, justice coffee maker and a microwave that bakes, broils and air fries. Right out the kitchen door is a gas grill with side burner. The security cameras called out are around our house and focused on exterior doors. There are no cameras in or pointed at the guest house.

Nearby Attractions

Lots of options for dining. Up in Mountain City (1/2 hr) is Subas with an extensive menu and fabulous deserts. In Doe Valley (20 minutes) is authentic, made to order Italian cuisine at La Cucina. They are ******** only. They do not have a liquor license; however you are allowed to bring in your own but it must stay in a paper bag and poured into the supplied coffee cup. That is no joke. Reservations are suggested at both restaurants. Closer to the guesthouse is the Butler Trading Post and Maddie Moe’s Pizza. Both are “just got off the lake” casual and have carry out. The Trading Post has a nice dinning room, with food servers and a small salad bar. Also close by and new to the area is Patriot Popcorn that has a specialty coffee bar to get your latte fix. Nearly brand new is the Crabby Cafe that focuses on fresh seafood but also serves steaks and hamburgers. Both businesses are housed in the former Shirley’s Restaurant.
