The Poehlman house was finished in the late 1800’s directly across from Lincoln’s Tomb in beautiful Oakridge Cemetery. Large comfy room with queen bed and all the amenities. Electric fireplace, large smart tv, Wi-Fi, and much more. Come enjoy a weekend away or spend the week! Monthly deals are available also. Large patio with grill, wood fire pit and gas fire pit along with private hot tub. There is a half bath on the first floor and the shared full bath with 2 man walk in shower on the second floor. Minutes from downtown, shopping, airport, Amtrak and the medical district. Let me know if you need picked up.

I’m 55 years old. Single and enjoying life while working on my 135 yr old home. I have a fur baby named Booth and just adopted another named Pip. He’s deaf but full of life. I’m generally a quiet person and just keep busy with home projects and the yard. Love to travel and explore whenever possible. I love to host and entertain guests from all over, so I thought this would be perfect. I love to sit and talk to guests after their day of exploring the town and hearing about where they are from. Either it be out in the hot tub with a drink, sitting by one of the fire Pits or just at the kitchen table or upstairs sitting area. I do occasionally wander down to the bar for a drink or a drag show. For the record, this house is in SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS! And yes Springfield is the home of Bart Simpson! Lol

Clique gay bar is about 5 minutes away. There is also a really nice microbrewery called Obed and Isaac’s as well as a ton of Abraham Lincoln sites and the Dana Thomas house (FLW designed House) I’m also a stones throw from Lincoln’s Tomb.

I do have some house rules which are posted in each bedroom. Most are just the basics of respecting the house and furnishings. I do host on other platforms so I may have other guests staying at the same time. I have a total of 3 extra rooms I rent, so if you have a group, ask if the others are available. If you are lucky enough to be the only guest(s), you are more than welcome to strut your stuff naked. If you forget to pack something, I probably have it. The dogs are friendly and your dog is most definitely welcome also. I have a large fenced in yard. I do like to cook breakfast, so let me know ahead of time what you like to eat. I also have coffee and tea available. Parking is directly out front and is free. Just make sure you park the correct direction. Shoes are not to be worn in the house and can be kept in a cubby next to the back door. Keyless entry is assigned to each guest via passcode.

I had the pleasure of staying one night at the Pöhlmann House with Brad – and it truly felt like a little getaway for the soul! Brad is an incredibly warm and helpful host who makes you feel welcome and at ease from the very first moment. The house is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and has a relaxed, charming atmosphere. The garden is a true highlight – beautifully maintained with attention to detail, and the outdoor hot tub makes it absolutely perfect. I didn't just rest there – I recharged. The calm surroundings, the green setting, and Brad's wonderful personality make this place something really special. If you're anywhere near the area – don't miss the chance to stay here. I would return in a heartbeat.

Brad was an excellent host. He was attentive and engaging. He had some excellent suggestions on things to see, not only in Springfield, but in other cities I'll be going to later in my trip. The home and grounds are delightful. I would definitely stay here again if going to Springfield.
