A quiet forest setting right in the middle of the city. A spacious terrace, mature trees, and hydrangeas.
Nestled among them is our hotel, Das Lola—a former villa for mine directors, steeped in history. It has been lovingly renovated and converted into a hotel, offering 30 cozy rooms where you can unwind and relax. The large conservatory provides plenty of space for getting work done or socializing. Books and artwork are found throughout the property. Here, you will find peace, space, forest, and nature—combining professional hotel service with a welcoming, family-like atmosphere.
Despite its quiet, green location, Das Lola features excellent transport links: Messe Essen (the trade fair grounds) is just a 15-minute walk away, and a tram stop with a direct connection to Essen Central Station is only 656 feet away. The A52 motorway towards Düsseldorf can be reached in a two-minute drive.
We are on-site daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., ensuring a fantastic breakfast and impeccably clean rooms. One thing you won’t find here is a large reception desk where we spend our day.
Check-in takes place from 3:00 p.m. via the terminal at the main entrance. It is very easy to use: simply enter your surname or booking number to start the process.
We send all guests an email the day before arrival with detailed check-in instructions. Should any questions arise during check-in or while you are here, we are always available by phone to assist you.
A large car park is available behind the hotel for our guests to use free of charge. Secure bicycle storage is also provided there.
We have created two lovely spots—one at the main entrance and one in the conservatory—perfect for working, reading, or meeting people. Guests are welcome to use the foyer at any time, while the conservatory is available until 3:00 p.m. (or later in the evening upon prior request). The foyer features a complimentary coffee and tea station, as well as a beverage fridge accessible to all guests. Lola is a lively space where you can move around freely and discover your favorite spot.
Breakfast is a time for us to get to know our guests—and for them to get to know us. You can start your day in a relaxed atmosphere in our conservatory or out on the terrace. We serve only organic milk, eggs, cold cuts, and cheese, and source the vast majority of our fruit and vegetables locally.
Dogs are very welcome here; a surcharge of €15.00 applies to the room rate. At the same time, we want to ******** guests with pet allergies a room that has never been entered by a dog. We therefore ask that you let us know in advance—by phone or email—if you are bringing a dog.
We have designated specific dog-friendly rooms in every category that offer particularly quick access to the forest.

Because we foster the largest community of gay travelers, we need to ensure all are welcome anywhere they go. Of course you may search for a private room or a full apartment from our gay and gay-friendly hosts. But sometimes, you would rather search for a hotel in a particular location or with certain amenities.
To help in your search we have selected a few standard hotels that we believe are a good fit for LGBTQ+ travelers.
Why did we select these hotels?
Because of their location, services, amenities, rates, and overall good reputation, we believe these hotels can appeal to LGBTQ+ travelers. At this point though, we haven’t been able to vet their welcoming attitude and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community.
We also help ensure hotels with a history of homophobic behavior, or whose owners are homophobic, are not listed on misterb&b.
Travel with peace of mind while connecting with the gay community. As the largest gay hotelier in the world, misterb&b guarantees secure payments, a trusted community, and a customer support team that is at your service.
A confirmation e-mail with the contact information of your host will be sent to your e-mail address upon a successful booking. Log in to your misterb&b account and visit My trips. Here you will find the status and details of all your bookings and booking requests.
