Bali has many layers, and I had the chance to explore them all on my last trip.
According to human rights and LGBTQ+ organizations, sexual orientation and gender identity are criminalized/marginalized in this destination. It might not be the safest place for LGBTQ+ travelers, who are advised to refrain from any public display of affection and remain careful.

From the moment I met them I felt like I had known them for years and was just visiting my friends in Ubud at their beautiful home. The location is perfect, secluded when you need to be but within a stone's throw of some of the best cafes, bars, restaurants and yoga studios. Everything was perfect. I'd definitely come back"

The decor is funky and fun (I opted to stay in the Flamingo room). If you wanted to cook it's all there, but when your steps away from great restaurants... you get the picture. Strongly recommend."

The pleasure of being able to access the host's common areas, lounge and pool is an additional asset. The house is in the middle of a rice field 3 km from Ubud which gives it additional charm, but you need to plan for your scooter as it is mandatory since communications are complicated. Bottled water in the kitchen, mosquito spray/coils, towels, a pleasant housekeeper either daily or less frequently and great recommendations from BJ for clubs and restaurants (the Milk & Madu nearby became our favourite (their Cinnamon French toast is the best I've ever eaten). Wild Habit Pizza was also excellent. Thanks again."

Hahn·5·Apr. 2024· "This hotel is astounding in its beauty and location. The rooms are quite large and very comfortable. However, it is the staff who put the hotel over the top. The staff, in my experience, take graciousness to an extraordinary level. Seemingly, every guest need is taken care of in advance or on the spot. One staff member, Arthur, who referred to me as "Sir James," stood out among an already extraordinary staff. He always greeted me warmly and caringly regardless of what he was dealing with. I watched him deal with an obnoxious guest from South Asia with grace and respect. He is truly amazing and a great asset to the hotel.
They maintain enough staff so that if one gets taken away to assist a guest, another pops up in their place, ready and waiting to assist.
All the staff looked after me as well, including a call to housekeeping while checking out, only to have them find a drawerful of shirts I had left behind. No hotel as ever provided that level of service to me in any location, ever!
The open-air rooftop restaurant overlooks Bali with the ocean in the distance. I've never had breakfast with such a large helping of serenity to go with. The variety of foods available during the breakfast buffet was amazing, with something for almost every cultural taste. They even provided decaf coffee which is very, very difficult to find outside of the United States.
I would heartedly recommend this hotel. It is beautiful and comfortable with a staff that puts gracious icing on an already beautiful cake."

The villa is the perfect retreat in a beautiful setting and very well appointed. Lovely room with views over the rice field and a lovely private relaxing pool. The villa's location was perfect. A short walk to the local bars, clubs, restaurants and shops and of course the beach.
The tours with Peter's driver were excellent. He was so friendly and knowledgeable and flexible to our needs. Great fun!
I would not hesitate to recommend Peter's villas to any visitors to Bali."

We talked a lot like a friend who doesn't look like the host who used to limit the interaction with the guest.
About the house, it is far from the hustle & offers fantastic paddy field views. The room is not the best compared to the newly built guest house, but it's spacious enough."
