Zurich, the most gay-friendly city in Switzerland

The city of Zurich is a great vacation choice for gay couples who want to experience a busy city. Enjoyable nightlife, fascinating tourist attractions, delicious gourmet restaurants and quality accommodations. These are just a few of the things that make Zurich a gay friendly destination to discover.

Zurich: to discover!
Located on the Limmat River and around Lake Zurich, the city was founded on twelve districts. The city center, or simply the old town, offers the most attractions for visitors. This is also where you will find Zurich's gay district.

Shopping, theaters, festivals and museums are just a few of the things you can do as a tourist to soak up the cultural life of Zurich. Like many European cities, Zurich's downtown area is best explored on foot, although the city's public transportation system is well designed. For those who wish to explore the more remote areas of Zurich, you can do so by renting a bicycle. This is definitely the best way to see everything and go at your own pace.

Gay Life in Zurich
Zurich has about 15 gay bars and nightclubs all located in the city center. Like any gay friendly city, you will be spoilt for choice and this, for all tastes. Whether it's a simple drink with friends in a bar or a strictly men's disco, Zurich is a party place where people know how to have fun.

Swiss gastronomy is well represented. There are excellent restaurants to discover in all four corners of the city. Zurich is an expensive destination, so it's not uncommon to need to pull out your wallet.

There are some lovely small gay-friendly hotels and B&Bs. The Goldenes Schwert (G-Hotel) is the only gay and lesbian hotel in Switzerland. It is located within walking distance of Zurich's main gay restaurants and bars. An interesting choice to consider.

Did you know that there are two gay beaches in Zurich, one of which is a 15-minute walk from the gay district? The Tierfenbrunnen beach is located at 200 Bellerivestrass. It is the most popular of all, especially in summer when the weather is nice and warm. The Werdinsel beach located in Hoengg, a town not far from Zurich, offers its beach for gay nudists.

Zurich is one of the most important gay destinations in Europe. Whether it's for a weekend or for several days, you'll quickly realize that your vacation is already over! So take the first train or plane to Zurich and have fun!
