Stuttgart Gay Pride or Christopher Street Day (CSD) is South Germany's largest LGBTQ festival. Usually taking place in July for roughly two weeks, Stuttgart Gay Pride celebrates local LGBTQ life through a range of cultural events, festivals, and of course an incredible pride parade.
The following is the event program of another pride edition. Stay tuned for the 2021 program.
2019 will be a special year for Stuttgart Pride. Not only will it celebrate 50 years since the Stonewall Uprising in New York, but it will also recognize 40 years of CSD in Germany. The Stuttgart Gay Pride CSD Gala kicks off on Friday, July 12 with the Stuttgart Gay Pride Parade transpiring on the final Saturday of the event, July 27.
The main theme for the Stuttgart Pride Parade 2019 will be 'Courage to Freedom', with the parade aiming to reflect an example of diversity, respect, acceptance, and equality in society. Stuttgart Gay Pride has over 6,500 participants taking part in the parade, and it attracts more than 175,000 people cheering from the sidelines!
Things will wrap up with a lively two-day street festival, CSD-Hocketse, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, on Marktplatz and Schillerplatz. The event proclaims to be an open-air disco, which will welcome live DJs who will spin stellar electronic sounds well into the night. Roughly 50 different stalls will also provide food and beverage options throughout both days.
So if you find yourself in the south of Germany this July, pencil in a visit to Stuttgart and experience your pride for CSD.
