If I tell you that Le Privilège is an institution of the Lille gay night, how do you take it?
GuillaumeDelbarre: (Laughs) that's nice and I can only take it very well! Indeed, the Privilège has become a flagship venue for gay lesbian and friendly nightlife.
What is the story behind the name of the establishment?
GD: It is an old library transformed into a bar since 2005, combining modern and old. The sound, video and lighting are state of the art, if not for the name story, I simply wanted a name that can be said often, and then especially not a name that is forgotten.
What are the recipes for attracting an ever-growing clientele?
GD: You have to constantly renew yourself, always offer new evenings, and above all regularly question yourself.
Some scenes from "La Vie d'Adèle" were shot at Le Privilège. What are your memories of this shooting?
GD: A very nice adventure! The shooting lasted only two days, but I will remember it for the rest of my life. The team was very nice and Abdel (Abdellatif Kechiche, the director) is a very nice guy. And I am very proud to have left a trace.
When is the best time to enjoy the atmosphere of Le Privilège?
GD: Every night... Every day has a different atmosphere!
Le Privilège, 2 Rue Royal, 59000 Lille.
Open Monday to Saturday from 3pm to 3am and Sunday from 5pm to 3am.
