Bruno and Dean are a dynamic couple living in Vancouver. They love hosting through misterb&b, and enjoy showing the gay community how to enjoy the diverse gay scene Vancouver offers. Read about their hosting experience and how they learned to share their pride.
What’s it like hosting for the gay community?
We love hosting for our brethren from around the world! We often get to make new friends who we may have otherwise never met. There is also something about hosting for other gays as opposed to other rental sites; it provides a sense of connection and community that is really nice.
Do you enjoy spending time hanging out with your guests?
We often end up spending some time with each of our guests. Whether it’s inviting them to join us for dinner, going out for sushi, playing video games, or just going for a walk. As we said before, we often enjoy making new friends with many of our guests, and are always up for socializing.
Everyone who has stayed with us has had something new and interesting about them. We had a professional opera singer stay with us from Germany, as well as a doctor from Australia who stayed with us prior to heading to gay ski week in Whistler.

What are the main things your guests love doing in your city?
Stanley Park and the Seawall are high on everyone’s list. You can even rent bikes directly in front of our apartment, making a cycling experience through Vancouver super easy. Others love to explore the Gastown district for its old-world charm and cute stores. Granville Island is also a great showcase of many Vancouver artists.
What’s your best memory of a guest?
We always love sitting around our living room chatting with our new guests. A great night we once had was on the last night of one of our guests. We went to the grocery store, got food to BBQ, made dinner, and played video games all together. We had a lot of fun hanging out, laughing and really getting to know each other.
What have you learned since you started hosting?
When you are getting ready to share your space with a stranger, it can be a bit daunting. However, what we have learned is that people are a lot friendlier than you might initially expect, and they're just excited to be traveling.
What’s the nicest thing a guest has ever done for you? Do they ever bring you gifts?
We have never had a guest bring a gift ahead of time, however, we have had a few guests leave small things and thank you notes. This is always rewarding because you know that that person left having had a great experience, and that’s what we want for anyone who stays with us.

What makes a perfect guest - or host?
The perfect guest is excited to be here in Vancouver, and is looking to experience everything the city has to offer. They are respectful of sharing our space and know that it isn’t the same as staying in a hotel, but they are comfortable to make reasonable requests. The perfect host is well-prepared for their guests, and works to make sure that their space is warm and inviting. They have a knowledge of the city highlights, and are willing to offer any advice.●
