La Marshall is Buenos Aires' first gay milonga, a queer tango night founded in 2005 by dancer Augusto Balizano, which helped bring the city's signature dance back to its same-sex roots. Held weekly on Friday evenings, it opens with a class for all levels before the milonga begins, with leaders and followers of any gender sharing the floor in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Drawing a friendly mix of locals and visitors, it's a wonderful way to experience tango as anyone can dance it - and a living piece of LGBTQ+ cultural history.
