The Rising SE1

The Rising is the only queer-focused pub in SE1, a warm, inclusive local in Elephant & Castle that breathed new life into a site that's served the area since the 1930s. Opened in response to London's dwindling number of queer safe spaces, it's a proper community pub with a rotating lineup of beers, wines, and cocktails, an all-plant-based menu, and both indoor seating and outdoor space, with dogs very much welcome. The calendar stays busy with live music, comedy, a weekly quiz, board-game nights, and weekend drag shows with DJs, drawing a friendly, all-welcome crowd. Down-to-earth and proudly inclusive, it's a genuine neighborhood hub and a refreshing alternative to the bigger Vauxhall and Soho scenes.
