On Broad Street — the heart of Nottingham's LGBTQ+ scene, rainbow crossing and all — The Lord Roberts is a friendly, gay-managed bar set in a characterful art deco room. It's a proper local: a strong range of beers and spirits, buzzing but easygoing, with a cozy beer garden, regular nights like the cult Deviant parties, and a community streak that runs to sponsoring the city's LGBT+ football team.
Tucked behind the Victoria Centre on St Ann's Street, The New Foresters is Nottingham's oldest LGBT+ bar — and one of the oldest queer venues in the UK (1938), with a historic plaque to prove it. Gay-run and recently given a bright makeover, it's the city's late-night LGBTQ+ home, with drag cabaret, DJs, themed nights, live vocalists and karaoke through the week, plus famously cheap drinks and a sheltered beer garden.
On Maid Marian Way, The Pride Shop is an LGBTQ+-run coffee-and-cake shop and retail space rolled into one — a daytime counterpoint to Nottingham's bars. Settle in for a brew and a slice, browse the Pride merch and queer-owned goods, or just use it as a friendly, sober-friendly community hangout in the city center.
Gladrags isn't a fixed address but a roving Nottingham LGBTQ+ club night built around music, fashion and culture, popping up at venues across the city like Popworld and Rough Trade. Expect a dressed-up, expressive crowd and a celebratory, anything-goes spirit — it's as much about self-expression as the dancefloor.
