Bálint is an enthusiastic host from Budapest, who invites you to discover the Hungarian capital. His insightful knowledge of Budapest is going to give you wanderlust to discover this city on the Danube. Hungary is a country that is opening up more and more to diversity. Bálint is happy to share his story with us, and we look forward to enjoying the view of the city from Saint Stephen's Basilica. Enjoy Budapest. Experience your pride.
How gay-friendly is your city? What’s gay life like there?
It is getting more and more accepted here. As a gay person, you can live a normal life. There's an emerging gay area in the center, with an increasing number of bars, restaurants and clubs. Things are changing, and slowly we can live freely together.

What are the best gay events that take place in your city each year?
Definitely Budapest Pride! This year it will be taking place from July 3 to 12, with the official pride parade kicking off on Saturday, July 6. It is the biggest LGBTQ event in Hungary, and it is going to be an amazing time!
We only have 48 hours in your city. What can’t we miss?
I would take you for an evening walk on the Dunakorzó, and show you why Budapest is called the City of Lights. Cruising down on the river Danube is a must. Definitely take the oldest metro line in the continent of Europe to Heroes Square. Take a bath in one of the Turkish baths and enjoy the hot spring water. Have a dinner in the Citadel restaurant, and enjoy the spectacular view of the city.

What’s your favorite gay place to grab a bite for lunch? A nice dinner?
Why not try one of our bistros or cafés?
A gay place for brunch on weekends?
I would suggest Villa Bagatelle. It is not gay-owned, but it's a great place and only locals know about it, so take advantage :)

What is the best gay place and day for a cheap beer or happy hour?
AlterEgo Club, before midnight on a Saturday.
We’re ready to party! What are the best gay clubs?
I would recommend Garçons, Hello or Vibe. They are hosted in different venues. Otherwise Anker't or Toldi Klub are the best gay clubs in town for an alternative hipster experience.

Can you share a secret or little-known place to visit in your city?
Kopaszi Gát is not touristy, and full of authentic restaurants. This makes it a great recreational area.
Any beaches, parks or best other places to chill out?
Lupa Beach is close to Budapest, or otherwise Károlyi Kert which is right in the city centre.

Where can we get the best view of Budapest?
From top of Saint Stephen's Basilica or from the Citadel restaurant.
