Budapest Pride is the biggest annual LGBTQ event in Hungary. Smaller than most Western gay prides, the main Budapest Pride march is more a political demonstration. But asides from the main Budapest Gay Pride Parade, you can celebrate with a film festival, discussions, exhibitions, picnics, concerts, and parties, all in this beautiful and romantic city. The entire Budapest Pride Festival lasts over the course of a month, so plan your schedule accordingly and don't miss out on all the fun.
The following is the event program for a previous pride edition. Stay tuned for the 2021 program.
This year, the main parade of Budapest Gay Pride will be held on Saturday, July 6. It will proceed through the main street of Andrássy Avenue (between the City Park and Elizabeth Square), before winding up at Budapest Park, where you will be able to enjoy an alfresco Rainbow Party.
Hosted by Funhouse, the extravagent Rainbow Party will welcome top DJs and live performers, creating a truly enjoyable ambiance. All of this will wrap up with an impressive fireworks show.
While Budapest may not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of gay destinations in Europe, its annual gay pride certainly puts on a lively show which enables the local LGBTQ community to embrace their pride in significant proportions.
