Gay Local Tips in Nashville

Music City

Jesse is in his final year of law school, works full time at a tech company and is also a host for misterb&b. He's a Nashville native and therefore your best guide through the city of music. Of course he's also passionate about travel: exploring new cities, tasting new food and experiencing local nightlife - that's why he's your best bet for exploring Nashville with your pride.

How gay-friendly is your city? What’s gay life like there?

It's somewhat open within Nashville, but I still wouldn't hold hands walking down the street. The gay nightlife can be fun, but it's not the Big Apple, you need to know where to go. You need someone to guide you… like me :)

What are the best gay events that take place in your city each year?

Pride is fun! There are also regular QDP events (Queer Dance Party) that are always a good time. It’s the perfect occasion to mingle with gay locals and you’re certainly gonna have a blast.

We only have 48 hours in your city. What can’t we miss?

Broadway is where all of the famous Nashville 'honky tonks' are. It's always fun and crazy busy. The Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium are must-sees. The Country Music Hall of Fame has everything from Hank Williams to Taylor Swift. The food is outstanding - loosen that belt a bit ... Then, head over to Tribe for a drink and then next door to Play for the drag show!

What’s your favorite gay place to grab a bite for lunch? A nice dinner?

One of my favorites in Nashville is Barcelona. It's a Spanish tapa-style restaurant and wine bar. In my opinion there you’ll find some of the best sangria around.

A gay place for brunch on weekends?

Suzy Wongs! Their Drag brunch is amazing!

Best gay place and day for a cheap beer or happy hour?

Canvas would be the best bet! It's a fun little gay place, but still cozy and unique.

We’re ready to party! What are the best gay clubs?

Play is where you'd go to dance it up! Huge dance floor and an awesome drag stage.

What are the best alternative gay bars and clubs where you live?

Trax and Stirrup are available - typically for a more seasoned crowd, but not exclusively. There's a new bar called Peckers, which is the new go-to place and I hear it can be fun.

Can you share a secret or little-known place to visit in your city?

Old Glory is a great hip bar that's unmarked. You have to go down an alley and up a few steps to get in. Once there, it's an old industrial building and it'll be bustling with young, trendy folks. Away from the beaten path, but you’re definitely going to have a good time there.

Any beaches, parks or best other places to chill-out?

Centennial Park is awesome! There's a full-sized replica of The Parthenon in Athens.

Where you can we get the best view of Nashville?

The top of the Westin hotel provides a great close-up view. There's also Love Circle which has a fantastic further view. John Rich - from country duo Big & Rich - lives at the top of the hill. His house is incredible, and called Mt. Richmore.●
