Yellowwood on Herron: Seaside escape in Betty’s Bay

To ensure a comfortable stay for everyone: • No smoking indoors. • Quiet hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Please consider those that live permanently in the area and those that have traveled as an escape. • When opening windows, please keep the shutters closed. Of course, you can adjust the blades to allow for airflow. If you leave the front doors open, kindly close the security gates. Baboons frequently forage in the area in their natural seasonal migration pattern between the villages and the mountains and the beach. The food items in the house might attract them and they easily panic once inside the house. The municipality is working on actively managing the peaceful coexistence with staff monitoring their movement and warning affected neighbourhoods sound the vuvuzela alarm. • Please lock doors and windows when leaving the property. • Fires are only allowed in the indoor fireplaces or outdoor braai area. These should be monitored at all times and ensured that all embers are extinguished before leaving unattended. • Please be mindful of water usage, Betty’s Bay often experiences water restrictions. • Pets: Your well-behaved dogs are very welcome. Please bring everything you may need for your furry friend with you, food, bowls, beds, blankets, and towels for those adventures on the beach. We are in a protected biosphere, therefore please keep your dog on a leash if you are unsure how they will react to other dogs and animals. There are baboons, porcupines, mongooses, civets, tortoises, franklins and a range of rare and endangered birds including penguins and oyster catchers. We recognize that dogs that walk and run with their owners regularly are usually well socialised and accustomed to interacting with strange dogs and people. Bearing in mind that there are wild animals in the local environment. Obviously, dogs that are not well socialised should either be very well contained in public spaces or should not be placed in a situation which is detrimental to the dog itself, other dogs and/or animals and birds. Please also take note that the Overstrand Municipality stipulates in their respective bylaws that dogs must be restrained on a leash in public open spaces and beaches. We also appeal to you to pick up your dog litter and discard of it appropriately, both on the property and while out and about, rather than wait for any of our staff to do it or just leave it as a surprise for other guests to stumble over. Dogs are not allowed on our beds and furniture out of consideration for other guests that are not particularly fond of pets in their space or who may be allergic. We encourage you to bring dog beds and blankets with you to ensure your furry friends are just as comfortable as you are. Your dog can stay in your room with you, on their own beds. The outdoor showers are fitted with hot and cold water as well as hand showers to rinse of any salt water and sand. Please ensure your kids are dry before bringing them inside again. Being in a strange environment can be very stressful therefore please do not leave your dogs unattended and alone on the property. • Damage: Unfortunately, any damage, whether caused through yourself, your pets, friends or children, will be for your account.
