About São Paulo Gay Pride

São Paulo Gay Pride Parade (officially La Parada do Orgulho GLBT de São Paulo), has grown from just 2,000 participants in 1997 to an incredible turn-out that is well into the millions today.

The Gay Pride Parade in São Paulo, Brazil, happens on the Sunday after the Corpus Christis holiday. According to Grindr, the São Paulo Gay Pride Parade was elected the best in the world! If this isn't enough to tempt you, you'll be intrigued to know that the Guinness Book of Records has elected the São Paulo Gay Pride Parade as the biggest in the world too. So do you think you've got the stamina to make a go of São Paulo Gay Pride? We hope so!

Program for São Paulo Gay Pride

Bear in mind that this is the event program for 2019. Stay tuned for the 2020 program for Gay Pride São Paulo, coming soon. This will be the 23rd edition of Gay Pride São Paulo, and the theme will be 50 years since Stonewall. As per usual its key event will be the Pride Parade. For 2019, the parade is taking place on Sunday, June 23. It will start at 12pm, outside the Museum of Art of São Paulo, which is located on one of the city's main avenues, Avenida Paulista. There will be roughly 25 different colorful floats, which are referred to as 'trio eletricos'.

While the main event takes place on Sunday, June 23, the Pride celebrations start the week before, on Tuesday, June 18. São Paulo gayborhoods, Frei Caneca and Largo do Arouche, come alive throughout the day, while popular clubs such as The Week are packed most nights.

Whether you plan to just march in the Parade on Sunday, or you're intending to take part in all the week-long celebrations, we can assure you Pride São Paulo is set to be one of the top gay prides of 2019.
