The gay naturist beach at Le Porge in Gironde is a favorite among gay people from Bordeaux. It’s very popular from May through October, especially on weekends when the weather is nice. The gay area is about 1,500 m north of the main beach. You’ll run into many locals from Bordeaux and gay tourists passing through, not to mention those cooling off behind the sand dunes at the edge of the forest. This is an unsupervised beach—watch out for rip currents!
To get there, when you arrive at Porge Océan, turn right at the roundabout toward the parking lot, then park as far north as possible. From the forest gate at the northern edge of the parking lot, you have two options. Continue walking 1,200 meters north along the bike path until it climbs and turns to the right, then follow the dirt path on the left toward the beach. Or, cross the dunes from the parking lot, and when you reach the beach, walk 1,200 meters north (to the right) to the spot where the gay community gathers. This route is more challenging! Make the most of your day among the sand dunes, forests, and beach—the setting is truly magical. Don’t forget to bring water and a picnic, and be sure to clean up after yourself. Porge Beach is a popular gay cruising spot in Lège-Cap-Ferret.
