Nearby Attractions

Since our place is located in a very rural setting, the night life is somewhat limited. The main attractions of the area are the Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood, Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge. There is more than anyone's share of outlet shopping, distilleries, rod-runs, restaurants, hillbilly-themed attractions, and mountain coasters. We personally recommend the hiking, white water rafting, fly fishing and even running "The Dragon" on your crotch rocket with your titanium knee pads well strapped on.

Host recommendations

Ours is a place to get away from the high-pressure city life. We own a couple of small tech businesses and a restaurant in Morristown, TN (about an hour northeast of Bear Mountain) this is our retreat from computer networks, credit card processing and labor/sales concerns. We welcome like-minded people who just want to enjoy some light-hearted social interaction, with no drama. Our businesses are associated with the food service and hospitality, so we enjoy good food and wine and love to share our knowledge of both with guests. Never say never, but we don't particularly want to deal with children and our place is not child proof. Our guests are welcome to smoke outside. If you decide to bring your pet(s) keep in mind that we are out in the woods so there are occasionally bear and other not-so-pet friendly animals around. Our Giant Schnauzer have done well there, but they have never encountered a bear. We keep a close eye on them when we let them out to run freely.
