Longwood House - A private, charming century farm house

Longwood House sits nestled into Scotch Mt. in Grey County on the outskirts of Meaford and Thornbury. This century farm house is perfect for that week long get away - a weekend of skiing or cycling or simply relaxing with friends and ******** those looking to book during the March Break - we are renting only in 1 week (7 day) blocks. Longwood House is a century farm house nestled into the Niagara Escarpment south west of the villages of Meaford and Thornbury Ontario. This 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom brick home sits at the end of a long driveway that cuts into a hill historically ******** privacy awaits you as you settle in for a weekend, week or month long stay. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with king sized beds, 1 bedroom with a single bed and a sitting area with a single pull out bed to accommodate a total of 6 people comfortably. Each room is furnished with an eclectic mix of antiques found in the area through local farm auctions. The upstairs bathroom has a stand up shower, toilet and sink. There is also a small desk in the sitting area that is great for using your laptop. The house while not having a TV, is equipped with wireless internet throughout so feel free to bring your laptop to play your movies. There is also a bluetooth Bose player that connects easily to your phone or computer plus another portable iPod/phone dock for additional music.
During the winter the main source of heat is a wood stove - there is plenty of wood and it's easy to operate. There is also a washer and dryer, dishwasher and microwave in addition to the stove and fridge.
Downstairs you will be amazed by the amount of light that floods the house as we have slowly opened up the once small rooms to create a large living room that flows into a full dining room that flows into the farm kitchen. Open shelving, a huge farm sink and butcher block counters are the perfect place for gathering after winter and summer activities. The dining room is furnished with press back chairs and a harvest table that has been in this house for close to 100 years. There is a propane fireplace in the dining room to add the perfect touch in the winter months. The living room boasts a large wood stove, linen slip covered oversized couch and love seat and huge coffee table. All of the windows look out into the trees and yard space that surround the property. Off of the living room is a front porch that is perfect for cocktails in the later summer afternoon sun. Attached to the dining room on the other side of the house is a completely screened in porch with another harvest table and chairs that's perfect for summer entertaining. Outside of the screened porch is more seating and a large propane BBQ. All around the house are century pines, lilacs and wild apple trees. Perennial gardens flower all summer and are filled with birds and butterflies. Wild Turkeys, rabbits the odd ground hog and Deer often come to visit in the early morning or at dusk. There is a seasonal stream that runs along the property that can be heard from the bedroom windows in the evening - perfect to fall asleep to!
