The Reveal
We have a stunning off-grid spot with a 300 hectare operating farm, a private beach, a cute little studio space, outdoor fire-bath, large vegetable gardens and fruit orchard, great surf, and the funky little surf town of Raglan 30 minutes away. We host New Zealand's main 'Radical Faerie Gathering' each Autumn, and most years run a small music festival on the farm.
Note: As we are off grid there are some systems here that are unconventional for city dwellers. We have two showers; one indoors and one outdoors, we have two fire heated outdoor baths in which you can recline and gaze at the stars, and a dry system composting toilet. We generate our own electricity so high drain devices (like a hair dryer) may need to only be used at certain times. Otherwise we do have high speed internet, and are pretty civilized... :-)

Farming a 600 acre drystock farm, and enjoy everything from the beach to snowboarding, mountain and dirt bikes, books and movies, music and festivals, adventures and exploring.
We host 'Radical Faerie Gatherings' here on the farm, and small festivals. We also regularly have volunteer 'wwoofas' (willing workers on organic farms) from all over the world.

We have loads of space so it would be a challenge to disturb the neighbors, but being a working farm you are also entering our work space so being respectful in terms of noise late at night. Our bedroom is a loft space in the main house, so we ask that people leave this space and go to the cabin by 9pm at night.

Perfect place to switch off and relax. Simon is very friendly and welcoming. The private beach nearby is stunning (the dogs guide you there) and spending time in his garden was just what we needed. Highly recommended. Thanks Simon, will definitely come back again.

We had the best time staying with Simon on the farm. Beautiful location to relax and explore Raglan from. Simon was an exceptional host. Super friendly and even cooked us a lamb roast on our first night. What a gem! Will definitely be staying again if we come back to the North Island.

An amazing remote location by a stunning, empty beach. The whole place oozes character and charm and the dogs were adorable. Simon was a wonderful host as well - incredibly friendly and interesting to talk to. It was one of those travelling experiences I will always remember.

Easily the best getaway experience Simon, the host, is a wonderfully intelligent guy, delightful conversations and great cook The farm is so peaceful under a blazing sky of stars at night A separate building housed my bedroom that was so warm in the middle of winter Take time to walk to the black sand beach and surf where I was able to strip off in private and soak up the sun protected from the winds Raglan, the nearby town, is a fun surfy village with art, organic grocer and good coffee

Unbelievably memorable experience. Simon went beyond and beyond and beyond. The farm is CUTE, and the beach is breathtakingly gorgeous. Rustic, charming, and easy to fall in love with. Should you be lucky enough to come through Raglan, and love a bit of natural adventure, this is the PLACE. I can't thank Simon enough for making me feel at home here, like family. Sharing meals and stories about our other adventures was lovely. I can't wait to come back.
