The Reveal

We purchased this fabulous property in Dec 2018 and spent the next 3 months renovating. It is a beautiful souther home built by the Mothershed family in 1908. It has been well cared for and now it has become two apartments for Misterbnb Travelers. The bathrooms are new and the home has been lovingly restored to preserve its original character. The home is surrounded by a iron fence with gate. There is a 200 year old “Whispering oak” tree in front with a swing. The porch is inviting with a swing and 4 chairs to sit and enjoy a tall cocktail or cold ice tea while watching the sunset. There is a large covered portico in the back garden with fans and electricity. We love Memphis and we love Whispering Oak and it is our wish that you will love it too.

Nearby Attractions

Whispering Oak is located right in the middle of everything that is great about Memphis. It is walking distance to Overton Square entertainment district. There visitors will find a variety of dining options as well as a movie theater and 4 live theaters. Also, The Hideaway is located near The Cooper/Young District where there are more great dining options. One of our favorites the Beauty Shop. There are other great choices there like Tsunami, and Elwood’s Shells is a nice stop for breakfast. Also nearby is a couple of great little coffee shops Muddy’s Cafe and Bluff City Coffee. Other highlights in midtown are the fabulous Zoo ranked top 4 in the country, the Crosstown Concourse- the newly renovated Sears Tower that we are so proud to have nearby, the Brooks Art Museum in Overton Park- Tennessee’s largest and oldest art museum. The Pink Palace was formerly the home of Clarence Saunders the inventor of the first self-serve grocery Piggly Wiggly. The Secret Hideaway is a 10 minute drive from all the attractions downtown, one being the National Civil Rights Museum.
