The Poehlman House was finished in the late 1800’s and is directly across from Abraham Lincoln’s Tomb in beautiful Oakridge Cemetery. Minutes from downtown, shopping, medical district and the Amtrak and Airport. Solid brick 3 story with a walk out basement in front. This second floor room is large with a plush queen bed and all the amenities you could ask for. Electric fireplace, smart tv, small desk with walk in closet. It shares a sitting room with my bedroom and also the main shared bathroom with walk in shower.

I’m 55 years old. Single and enjoying life while working on my 135 yr old home. I have a fur baby named Booth and just adopted another named Pip. He’s deaf but full of life. I’m generally a quiet person and just keep busy with home projects and the yard. Love to travel and explore whenever possible. I love to host and entertain guests from all over, so I thought this would be perfect. I love to sit and talk to guests after their day of exploring the town and hearing about where they are from. Either it be out in the hot tub with a drink, sitting by one of the fire Pits or just at the kitchen table or upstairs sitting area. I do occasionally wander down to the bar for a drink or a drag show. For the record, this house is in SPRINGFIELD ILLINOIS! And yes Springfield is the home of Bart Simpson! Lol

I do have some basic house rules that are posted in each bedroom. Mostly just asking to respect the furnishings and house. I do ask that you take your shoes off at the back door and can store them in cubbies right inside. No smoking or vaping in the house. I do rent out a total of 3 bedrooms on other platforms, so the clothing optional may not apply. You may be sharing spaces with others. I also may be available to pick you up at the Amtrak station or airport. Just ask prior to your trip. I am a dog friendly house and welcome other dogs. Sorry, no cats.

Brad was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, staying up to welcome me at midnight and show me to my room. The room was very comfortable and was perfect for my trip to Springfield. Brad also allowed me to relax in his hot tub. I was also very happy to take advantage of his clothing optional policy (dependent on the booking source of his other guests). And to top it all off, his two dogs were absolutely adorable and kept me company while I worked and Brad was out of the house. Thanks Brad!
