Geographically, the city is located on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea within the Mediterranean Sea. Stretching along the Albanian Ionian Sea Coast, Saranda typically has a Mediterranean climate with over 300 sunny days a year.
Sarandë is known for its blue deep waters of the Mediterranean.
Near Sarandë is Ksamil is a village and a former municipality in the riviera of Southern Albania, and part of Butrint National Park.
