We're Elizabeth and Mel, two long-time friends and Northern California transplants enjoying the down-tempo vibes of the Blue Ridge. Passionate and progressive globe-trotters and adventure seekers. Elizabeth is a writer; Mel is a serial entrepreneur.
We're both committed allies and we loooove living in the gayborhood! Elizabeth is involved with the local LGBTQ+ Community Center, at one time sitting on the board and in charge of its annual GAYla. :-)
We are friendly and helpful, but also respectful of your space and privacy. If you want to hang out with us during your stay--great! If you prefer to keep to yourself, that's fine too. Please ask us for recommendations on where to eat, explore, bike/hike/swim, party, learn, day trip, or people-watch. As long-time residents, we are knowledgeable about the area and always happy to point you in the right direction.

Historic Old Southwest, just a few minutes' walk from downtown, is one of the city’s most beloved and diverse neighborhoods, ********
Once the home to the railroad elite, the streets of Old Southwest are lined with historic homes--some of them stately mansions reflecting various degrees of their original glory--ginormous trees, and flowers everywhere you look in the summer/spring. The heart of Old Southwest, Highland Park, is about a 10-minute walk from the house. Enjoy a picnic or a leisurely stroll beneath the towering Oak trees, dog-watching at the dog park, or a game of Frisbee golf.
We're a stone's throw from The Park nightclub plus all the downtown restaurants and nightlife. Surrounded by the stunning Blue Ridge mountains, there are tons of walking, hiking, and biking trails in and outside the city (we'll point you in the right direction). The Appalachian Trail skims the outskirts of the city.
If you don't know Roanoke, it is a very LGBTQ+ welcoming place.

- **Please be vaxed and boosted (we are!)** - Lock the front door (push the lock button) when you leave. Turn off lights, AC, etc. when you’re not using them - Be kind and courteous, as we pledge to be, too - Be communicative! if there is an issue with your room or stay, let us know promptly so we can address it (sadly, we are not mind readers) - Smoking is fine outside (we are outside smokers as well) - 420 ok, as it is now legal in the state of VA, but no illicit drugs, please - Well-behaved dogs/ferrets/parrots/rodents/baby sloths are welcome (we have 3 cats, so you will need to keep an eye on your pooch) - No loud noise after 11 pm, please - No parties or events - No overnight visitors (unless you have already specified a 2-person stay) - No smoking inside - Please adhere to our strict no-tolerance policy on racist, xenophobic, misogynist, nationalist, etc. remarks/vibes - Longer stays: Need fresh towels or sheets? Please place them outside your door. We’ll pop them in as soon as we see them and get them back to you. (Please be responsible for making your own bed) - Please take care of the furnishings. Many pieces are beloved family heirlooms. We will ask that you cover any damages that exceed the ******** - Please clean up after yourself and put stuff back where you found it. Thank you!! - Please strip the sheets before you leave. Place sheets/dirty towels on bed or floor
