Perched at an altitude of 300 meters on the heights of Pointe-Noire, in the heart of the Leeward Coast and facing the Caribbean Sea, Le Cottage Solitude is a 45-square-meter ecolodge designed as a cozy retreat for two. A genuine all-wood Creole “kaz,” featuring a spacious bedroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, and its own saltwater pool bordered by a wakapou deck.

Step inside, and time slows down. A king-size canopy bed, memory foam mattress, and organic Egyptian cotton satin linens. 1950s-style armchairs, a record player, and 33-rpm vinyl records, plus an outdoor rainwater shower. The 25 m2 gallery terrace, complete with a fully equipped kitchen, opens onto the garden and the blue horizon, and the urge to stay put quickly becomes irresistible.

A PROPERTY STEEPED IN HISTORY The Cottage is part of the Caféière Beauséjour estate, a former 18th-century coffee plantation documented in a notarial deed as early as 1780 and listed as a Guadeloupe heritage site. Surrounding the colonial-style house is a 1.5-hectare exotic botanical garden where coffee trees, cacao trees, vanilla plants, and tropical flowers thrive. The estate’s five accommodations are scattered throughout the lush vegetation, set far enough apart to ensure each guest has their own private space.

At the heart of the estate, the infinity pool seems to plunge into the Caribbean Sea. Shared by all guests, this is where the most beautiful conversations take place at sunset.

ADULTS ONLY AND GAY-FRIENDLY The estate is exclusively for adults 18 and older. No children, no commotion—just birdsong and the rustling of palm trees. Etienne and Didier, the owners, welcome you into their home just as they would welcome friends. Here, you’re free from labels and judgment, regardless of your age or background. A loyal LGBTQ+ clientele returns every year, and that’s undoubtedly the greatest compliment we could receive.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENTS La Caféière Beauséjour is the only establishment in Guadeloupe to combine Atout France 5-star-rated ecolodges with two eco-labels: Clef Verte and Esprit Parc National. On-site solar power, rainwater collected for toilets and the washing machine, eco-certified cleaning products, organic shower gel and laundry detergent, eco-certified paper, and a solar-powered electric vehicle charging station. Air conditioning runs from 7:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. to ensure a restful night’s sleep while minimizing emissions. Traveling differently without compromising on comfort—that’s exactly the idea.

The entire property is smoke-free, due to the wooden buildings and dense vegetation.

GOOD TO KNOW Maximum occupancy: two people. Access via a 30-step staircase. High-speed Wi-Fi, smart TV, and Apple TV; private enclosed parking. On the property: pool table, darts, concert grand piano; free rental of diving gear and beach towels. Creole table d’hôte dinner reserved for guests on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings.

The Cousteau Reserve and its turquoise waters are 10 minutes away; the village and beaches of Deshaies are 20 minutes away; and the Pointe-à-Pitre airport is less than an hour’s drive away.
