Spotlight: Fresno FRESNO'S TOWER DISTRICT
LGBTQ Friendly area of Fresno Splash bar and FAB on Olive Ave. about 20 minute walk or 8 minute drive.
Stroll through a hip neighborhood brimming with old-style charm and new surprises Built up in the 1930s as a suburb accessible by Fresno’s (since retired) streetcars, the luminous Tower District is the city’s leading nightlife destination. The district is named for the neon-lit Tower Theatre, a 1939 Art Deco masterpiece and national historic landmark designed by S. Charles Lee, the architect of many of Hollywood’s most famous theaters. It’s now the 761-seat Tower Theatre for the Performing Arts, which hosts a busy lineup of local and national rock, jazz, and comedy concerts, as well as film screenings. When you come for a show, give yourself time to take in such architectural details as the lobby’s bas-relief etched-glass panel depicting hunters and blacklight-illuminated circular murals painted with fluorescent pigments. For more live theater, book a table at nearby Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater, home to the Good Company Players, a troupe that also stages productions a block away at the 2nd Space Theatre. Music fans should check the schedule at Strummer’s, a concert hall, restaurant, and club named for Joe Strummer, The Clash’s late frontman. With all of the live performances, restaurants, art galleries, vintage clothing shops, and record stores, this walkable district positively buzzes after dark. Less than a block from the Tower Theatre, dine at eclectic Veni Vidi Vici, a popular restaurant with a menu that incorporates Asian and Italian influences. Sequoia Brewing Company makes a great place to lounge pre- or postshow; try its China Peak Pilsner or a General Sherman IPA. And for more craft beer (plus classic arcade games!), head over to the bicycle-themed Spokeasy Public House. Several times a year, special events turn the entire Tower District into a giant party. These include the celebrated Rogue Festival (the city’s annual fringe festival), the Fresno Film Festival, and an annual Mardi Gras parade.

This was my second time at Eric's place and again he displayed the utmost hospitality. I was in Fresno for business, and appreciated the spaciousness and relaxing environment of his home after a long day at work. Amenities were thoughtful and accommodations were personable. It was a pleasure conversing with Eric in the morning, as it made a great start to the rest of my day. Through our discussions, I even found out we knew some people in common. Now that's how you host a guest. Will definitely book his place whenever I'm in town.
Nestled in a quaint part of Fresno, Eric's place offered the quiet peace for me to work, and tranquility to relax afterwards. Well thought out details are seen throughout, from the complementary snacks and coffee in the hallway, to the detailed directions and multi-chargers in the room. Even though Eric spent most of his time on his side of the home, he provided welcoming conversation when I had a meal. Eric is a "salt of the earth" kind of guy and his home is like "a home away from home."
a very good experience. Nice residential neighborhood, quiet, safe, lots of trees. Good coffee shop walking distance. The house was spacious, immaculate, comfortable. The host really keeps the guest rooms and bath as real guest rooms, without his own personal stuff in your way. Even had a variety of chargers on the bedside table. Only regret was that I didn't meet, Eric the host who was out of town during my stay. Accessing the house went smoothly, and he checked in with me a couple of times
Had a brief, but very nice stay with Eric at his charming home in Fresno. Home is super clean and the bed was very comfy. The guest part of the house is set up with coffee, tea, snacks, cords for all your devices, etc. so you really feel like your in the hands of a pro. Great location in the Tower District close to shops, restaurants and gay nightlife. Enjoyed chatting with Eric.
Eric is an exceptional host. I had a very good evening with him
