The Reveal

CozyInsta-WorthyRelaxing

Come and enjoy the almost wilderness, while still being close to Albany shopping mall and bus station, and not too far from Auckland City central!

You can relax and enjoy the quietness, and/or there are work spaces and desks if you need to work while here.

Pool is great to use in summer, but is not heated, so not suitable for winter unless you like an ice-bath haha.

The spa/hot tub/jacuzzi is great all year round, however it is not operational at the moment.

Your private room has a comfy bed, wardrobe space, a bush/woods/forest view, and is in a quiet older country style cedar wooden 1980's home.

You have your own dedicated bathroom (with shower and toilet) down the common hallway, with a hairdryer if needed, and two baths are available in other bathrooms if desired.

The kitchen facilities are shared with the hosts, and include a coffee machine, toaster, microwave, Sodastream etc. An iron/ironing board is available, and a clothes washer/dryer is available, with a donation to extra costs.

You'll share the home and common spaces with a M/M professional couple who work from home, and our lovely young Rough Coat Collie dog.

Most of the 2.5 acre / 11,000m2 bush/forest/woods property is clothing optional, as there are no obvious neighbours, and the host will be naked if warm enough and if you are okay with this. There is no need to wear clothes around the property, and especially in the pool and the spa/jacuzzi/hot tub, but you can if you want to.

For warmer days, there is a non-heated swimming pool (7.5m x 4m) to relax in and enjoy, and there is a retro 80’s style (almost heart shaped) outdoor covered spa/jacuzzi/hot tub area under the trees. For colder nights and days, there is a wood burning contained fireplace.

Your room is older, but tidy and clean, with very high (4.1m/13+ft) wooden ceilings. Bed linen, bath towels, and pool/spa towels are high quality Australian "Sheridan" brand, and therefore comfortable and a pleasure to use.

If you want, your room can have a 46" TV with HDMI cable and a stand for laptops, and you have an Apple TV with American (VPN) TV streaming services including Netflix, Hulu, Max, PrimeVideo, Disney+ etc. Most guests share the common living room/lounge (very large TV & sound bar). Multiple decks overlook the extensive bush/forest/woods areas.

We can provide a small camping fridge/refrigerator in the room if you require, and you can use space in the main fridge if needed.

Property is rural, and has Starlink satellite internet services, which are perfectly fine for video calls etc (between 120Mbps and 250Mbps usually). Although not fibre, this has still very decent speeds for almost all uses, except gaming.

Drinking and tap/shower water is tank rain water, and we have serious filtration systems including UV filters, normal filters, and extra filters on drinking faucets so water is very clean fresh and nice tasting.

Beaches are about 10 mins drive away, including a nudist one. Albany Mall & bus station is 6-10 mins drive, and Auckland City (CBD) is about 20-25 mins away.

A good starting point in New Zealand to relax, and great on the way if you are heading up North (Bay of Islands etc), while still being within Auckland.

Must love or at least like dogs, as our friendly and smart dog will love to enjoy some time with you. We could consider a friendly small pet dog with you.

We could consider a child or young person, or other people with you, as other rooms in the house are potentially available, with some notice and time to organise.

I'm a mid 40's guy who likes to travel, usually alone, sometimes with my partner, and sometimes with my adult son. I tend to travel to nude/clothing optional destinations where possible, as this has been a lifelong way of life I have grown up with. I enjoy a fun night out on occasion, but I tend to prefer low key self-driving around looking at sights and interesting things, as well as interesting galleries and museums etc. Food wise, I love a beautiful meal in a nice venue with an upmarket quiet ambience, but I also am equally as comfortable in a cheap-eats place, with a lively atmosphere. Definitely a beach and water lover, preference for clothing optional, but anywhere I get some sand and sea is good for me :) Where beaches aren't available, I tend to love any pool, or a jacuzzi/hot tup/spa pool that I can get to.

Nearby Attractions

Most of the LGBTQ+ scene is in Auckland City, which is about 20-25 mins drive, outside of heavy traffic. The main area is called "K Rd" or Karangahape Road, in Auckland City. Cafe culture is popular in Ponsonby, nearby to K Rd, where you have a good selection of cafe's and coffee houses.

On sunny days, there are a number of beaches nearby, including a nude friendly beach called Pohutukawa Bay, which is about 10-15 mins drive, with about a 20 minute walk from the carpark.

There are a few local cafe's and a mall/shopping centre nearby (about 6-8 mins) which is a normal surburban mall complex with a cinema etc. The bus depot is near there, with fast express buses into Auckland City or up north further.

Host recommendations

Mainly need to be aware that our dog will walk around the property a lot, and so gates need to be closed at all times. House is older, and very wood style, so make sure you are okay with this. Property is almost fully clothing optional, as the area is remote without visible neighbours. We will respect your clothing option wishes either way, and run with whatever you are comfortable with.

I had a wonderful stay! Michael and Hideto were very welcoming and made me felt at ease. We had some good conversations and exchanged fun travel stories. I really appreciated the secluded location of the country home, the greenery, the fresh air and the night time hoot of the owls. The pool and jacuzzi added to the overall relaxation of my stay, such a treat! Do not worry if you do not drive, you can taxi to the bus stop in Albany easily for a small cost. Bus between Albany and Auckland are frequent, safe, clean and convenient.

Mike & Hideto's place is a wonderful, peaceful and secluded hideaway, ideal for stripping down and lounging in the pool, spa and sun. Being only minutes from a supermarket, great North Shore beaches and places like Brown's Bay, it's also well-located. I'd recommend it as a really relaxing retreat with great hosts too. We enjoyed your company, guys, and the wee dog we had with us loved the company of your lovely Collie too.

I had such a great stay at Michael's peaceful home. They are both very welcoming and friendly. The puppy is also very cute. The room is tidy and comfortable. They offered me delicious lunch and gave me good advice for the rest of my trip. I would definitely recommend their place if you need a quiet stay while still being close to busy Auckland.

I had a great stay. while a little out of the way-it is like a rural location very close to the city. It is quiet and relaxing. The hosts are friendly and welcoming.

You'll enjoy a quiet space in the woods with this home. They have a great puppy and lots of trees. The location is about 15 minutes to downtown Aukland and is easy to find. They've recently purchased this home and have been doing renovations, but this wasn't a problem. They provide a warm, welcoming experience.
