About the cabin:
High above the clouds between Highlands and Franklin, NC, this secluded cabin offers a peaceful, private escape with sweeping views of the Smoky Mountains and the iconic Red Gates. It’s a special place—quiet, soulful, and surrounded by nature. Surrounded by nature, the space blends warm wood interiors with thoughtful, understated design, creating an atmosphere that feels both cozy and intentional.
Your private room is bright, cozy, and thoughtfully appointed, with two large windows that frame stunning mountain vistas. There’s a television in your room, another in the shared living space, and plenty of spots to relax throughout the home. The full bathroom is just across the hall and shared, plus there’s an additional half bath on the main level for convenience.
Enjoy your coffee on the porch in the morning light or watch the sun dip behind the ridgeline with a glass of wine in hand. You’ll have access to the entire house and are free to make yourself at home. I live here with my four well-behaved dogs, who may greet you with a tail wag but otherwise keep to themselves.
There are incredible hiking trails, waterfalls, and scenic drives just minutes away. The road up is gravel and somewhat bumpy, so an all-wheel drive vehicle is recommended—but not required. Many guests arrive in regular cars without any trouble.
Smoking is not permitted indoors, but you’re welcome to smoke outside if done respectfully. The home was featured in Log and Timber Home Living magazine and appeared again in their January 2024 special edition. Laurel Magazine also showcased the property in 2021.

I really enjoyed my stay at Craig's cabin. He's very nice and the dogs were hilarious and fun. They are very affectionate. The cabin is perfect. Relaxing and comfortable. If you want a relaxing getaway I highly recommend.
Beautiful home in a very scenic location! Great host - and wonderful dogs.
Amazing views, incredible place, gracious host. What more could you ask for? Dogs? Yes, they are there too and you will love them 🙏🏽🤗
Very cozy stay. Amazing view. Friendly host and great doggies make you feel welcome and that your stay is comfortable. Would suggest the stay to anyone who wants to see ******** real mountain house experience is like.
An adventure to get there but worth it. Beautiful appointed and comfortable. Fantastic view. Craig is a generous, flexible and creative host with four sweet pups.
So grateful that Craig could accommodate my last minute request. He is a kind and gracious host and his home is truly spectacular.
Craig is a gracious and accommodating host with a beautifully appointed, comfortable home that has spectacular views of the mountains. I strongly recommend visiting him.
One-of-a-kind, impeccably curated and styled place that feels truly remote - Craig is an amazing host (and artist) who made the accommodation exceptional and felt like catching up with a lifelong buddy. 10/10 - Very much appreciated!
I enjoyed my visit with Craig and his four adorable dogs. He is very open minded, encouraged me to be clothing optional and made me feel at home. His home is a charming cozy cottage in the woods just as described. The road up to the house is a rutted dirt road but I still managed to get my low slung sports car up there. I would definitely recommend a stay with Craig.
Craig's place was a little piece of paradise. Tucked away with an amazing view, and such privacy. The cabin had such unique and eclectic touches, which were all a reflection of him and his wonderful persona. He was so kind and accommodating, as were his other three 4-legged co-hosts, making sure I had everything I needed to make my stay extra enjoyable.
