Farside is a cute, laid-back queer-owned cocktail bar out in Toronto's far east end, run by the same queen who used to helm Handlebar, so the pedigree for good music and easy charm runs deep. A smaller, more design-forward room than the Village's bigger venues, it's less about drag-queen-on-stage spectacle and more about chilling and grooving, a curated DJ program (resident favorites include former Eagle spinner HotGayDaddy), old movies playing on the screens, and a serious, well-made cocktail list. It's become a genuine east-end thoroughfare for queer parties and a date-friendly option earlier in the evening, inclusive, welcoming, and a little nerdy in the best way. A great alternative for Riverdale and East Chinatown locals who don't feel like trekking to Church Street.
