I have spent enough evenings in the gay bars of Nice to have a clear picture of how the scene works, and the thing that always strikes me is how distinctly southern it feels - louder, warmer, more physical than Paris, with an Italian edge that makes the nights feel more spontaneous. The gay bar scene in Nice is not vast by the standards of larger cities, but it is dense: most venues cluster in Vieux Nice (Old Town) within easy walking distance of each other, which means a night out here rarely involves a taxi and often ends with a new group of friends. There are around 12 gay bars and clubs listed across Nice on misterb&b - from the chill afternoon terraces of the Cours Saleya to the late-night clubs that run until 4 or 5am on weekends. The scene is most alive from Thursday to Sunday, and explodes during Pride week every July. 🏳️🌈

When I want to start the night in Nice, I head to Red Kafe - a gay bar next to the Promenade des Anglais that also functions as a cafe, tea house, and ice cream bar through the day, and shifts gear into afterwork DJs and themed nights as the evening progresses. It is open every day from 2pm to 2am and is one of the most reliably busy gay spots on the Riviera regardless of the day of the week. The crowd is mixed in the best sense - age, style, local and tourist - and the terrace is one of the best in Nice for people-watching.
One of my favourite spots in Nice for a proper club night is Le Six - the Le 6 Telephone Bar Clubbing on Rue Eugene Emanuel. It has been running since 2006 and built its reputation on international DJs, live music, hot performers, and shower shows that still draw crowds nearly two decades later. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 10pm to 5am, it is the gay nightlife reference on the French Riviera for a reason.
For late-night drag and pop energy, Le Glam is the one I always come back to. Open Friday to Sunday from 11:30pm to 4:30am, it runs shows, performers, DJ sets, and bear and pop parties in a format that remains one of the most popular gay club nights on the Cote d'Azur. The crowd dresses to go out and the atmosphere rewards it.
When I want something more theatrical and intimate, La Cave Wilson is my preference - a gay cabaret bar near Place Garibaldi with drag shows, live performance, and the kind of room where you feel like a regular by the end of the first drink. It was opened in 2015 by the team behind Les Bains-Douches sauna and has been a fixture of Nice gay nightlife ever since.
For karaoke nights, themed parties, and an easy-going crowd, Le Swing is the newer addition to the Nice gay scene that has quickly become a fixture. A pub, bar, and dancing bar in one, it runs karaoke, salsa, electro, and cabaret nights in a format that works for groups as well as solo travelers. The atmosphere is warmer and less pressured than the big clubs, which makes it a good first stop for anyone just arriving in the city.
The Nice gay bar circuit follows a rhythm that is worth understanding if you want to make the most of an evening. The afternoon bars - Red Kafe, the terrace spots around Cours Saleya - are busy from around 5pm with afterwork crowds and early aperitifs. These transition into the evening scene from 8 or 9pm. The clubs (Le Six, Le Glam) do not fill up until midnight or later; arriving before 11pm on a weekend means an empty room. The sequence that works best, in my experience, is a cocktail at Red Kafe around 7pm, dinner in the Old Town, La Cave Wilson or Le Swing for a show from 10pm, then Le Six or Le Glam from midnight. That covers the full range of what Nice gay nightlife offers in a single evening without rushing. During Pride week in July, most venues run special programming, guest DJs, and longer hours; the Omega Club also hosts a dedicated Pride party series. The full gay parties in Nice calendar has additional events beyond the regular bar circuit.
The best gay bar nights in Nice end either very late or at the beach the next morning - both of which are easier when you are staying in Vieux Nice or the Port area. misterb&b lists gay BnBs and hotels across Nice reviewed by the LGBTQ+ community, with many hosts in Vieux Nice who know the nightlife from the inside. Book your stay at gay BnB in Nice or gay hotels in Nice and start your evenings from the right side of town.
