NY.Club, long known simply as "New York," is Munich's most famous gay nightclub, a gay-owned dance institution that has been running since the early 1980s and is now in a modern home on Elisenstraße near the Central Station. Its hi-tech sound and lighting, roomy dance floor, big open-air smoking terrace, and darkroom draw a young, good-looking crowd of the queer community and friends. Fridays bring the legendary Luxuspop pop party; Saturdays serve up progressive and tribal house from international circuit DJs. A one-time contemporary of Studio 54 and a former haunt of Freddie Mercury, it remains the first stop for dancing, chilling, and cruising in gay Munich.
