Gay Local Tips in Miami

Tropical, Gay and Artsy Miami

Welcome to Miami, where the sun never sets! Stefan and Abraham are our Fabul'hosts living in the El Portal area - a very unique neighborhood. Find out all about the nightlife, the beaches showered with hot bodies, the most popular gay events, and tours to enjoy the best of Miami. Explore the world and experience your pride.

How gay-friendly is your city? What’s gay life like there?

Miami is a very dynamic and multicultural city with lots to offer. People are open-minded, gay-friendly and very supportive. There are many trendy gay bars and neighborhood locales, clubs and gay beaches - one of which is clothing optional. Miami is stylish, modern, and classy, and there is a lot of fine dining and art culture going on. It is definitely worth coming here to explore.

What are the best gay events that take place in your city each year?

I think it’s fair to say that all the major events in Miami are gay or very openly gay-friendly. I mean we’re in one of the meccas for our community. So there you go, if you’re planning a visit, come during any of these events: Miami White Party, Miami Beach Gay Pride, Miami Art Basel, Miami Food and Wine Festival, Fashion Week, Miami Boat Show, Miami Ultra Festival, or Miami Gay Winter Party.

We only have 48 hours in your city. What can’t we miss?

My personal advice is to discover Wynwood and its amazing street art, restaurants, shops and galleries. Take the Fun Duck Tours to discover Miami's Art Déco District, South Beach hotspots, Miami's Skyline and the mansions of the rich and famous. Alternatively, West of the City Tour shows you the beauty of Coconut Grove, Fairchild Tropical Gardens, Pinecrest Gardens, and Coral Gables which has an unbelievable Venetian pool.

What’s your favorite gay place to grab a bite for lunch? A nice dinner?

The Broken Shaker at the Freehand Hotel offers an amazing environment with delicious food and cocktails. Go to the famous Palace Bar to enjoy a friendly crowd and fun drag shows.

A gay place for brunch on weekends?

The R-House in Wynwood is the place to go, they have drag performances too.

Best gay place and day for a cheap beer or happy hour?

Gaythering Hotel and Palace Bar.

We’re ready to party! What are the best gay clubs?

Don’t miss Score on Tuesday night for Planets Macho, the crowd is funny and there are a lot of gogo dancers who give lap dances. Twist is a multi-level dance club with dancers and shows, you can party the night away till 5am.

What are the best alternative gay bars and clubs where you live?

Anderson Bar, Vagabond Motel, Sugar rooftop bar, and Jamboree for the Indiana Jones adventure types.

Any beaches, parks or best other places to chill-out?

Just like with the events, Miami is full of amazing beaches. Miami South Beach is certainly the most widely known - even for people who have never visited Miami. Make sure you also hop to 13th Street Beach, Haulover Beach, Key Biscayne, south of Miami Beach and Oleta Park.

Where can we get the best view of Miami?

You can definitely get the best views from the Rusty Pelican Restaurant and Sugar rooftop bar at the East Hotel. ●
