Gan Eden , located in the municipality of Monterenzio, is in a privileged position to visit many of the most beautiful( fascinating and suggestive ) and characteristic areas of the territory. The structure itself is located a few km from Mount Bibele, an archaeological area known to scholars to be one of the rare European examples of cohabitation between the Etruscan and Celtic populations of the Boii Gauls. In the early 1960s the first discoveries were made, and subsequent excavations revealed how the archaeological area of Monte Bibele was in the Celtic sphere among the most important in Europe, both for the richness of the grave goods found in the necropolis, which testify to the moment of transition from Etruscan to Celtic rule of the Boii Gauls, and for the conditions in which the settlement was able to be unearthed: although destroyed by fire and then abandoned around the beginning of the 2nd century BC.C. it has, in fact, given us a clear snapshot of daily life at the time. The artifacts that have been recovered are on display at the Archaeological Museum in Bologna and for the most part at the Fantini Museum in Monterenzio, which holds the most complete collection of Celtic materials in the region and one of the most important in Italy .

Combining history with a passion for nature, one cannot fail to travel in the immediate vicinity of the locality along the route of the Flaminia Minor, an ancient road initially used by Roman troops to consolidate the Latin presence in Celtic territory as soon as it was conquered.

The area of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines was also the scene (adverse) of major events during World War II, when the Allied front settled there for seven months during the winter months. The events of the war have left living testimony through the war relics that can be seen today in the different museums scattered over the places where the Gothic Line of German fortifications then stood. Just in the town of Monterenzio the Museum of the Gothic Line in Nostre Terre was recently opened, where original artifacts are flanked by documentary panels. The War Museum in Castel del Rio, which houses artifacts unearthed in the Santerno Valley, or the Museo Storico Etnografico in Bruscoli, in Tuscan territory, also give clear evidence of the cohabitation of our population with the foreign troops that flowed into the area during the conflict. Also, just across the region's border with Tuscany, located a few kilometers from our farmhouse, it is possible to visit the Futa Germanic Military Cemetery, where the bodies of 30,683 German soldiers who perished during the military operations of ******** were buried. Back in Emilian territory we must then mention the Monte Sole Historical Park, which commemorates the massacre carried out in the area of the same name by Nazi-Fascist forces in 1944.

In neighboring localities, those places of religious interest that have contributed to making our valley characteristic can also be visited. In the immediate vicinity of the farmhouse is the Sanctuary of Campeggio, called the "little Bolognese Lourdes" because, although it is not linked to any apparitions or prodigious manifestations of Our Lady, it is an artificial reproduction of the famous Grotto of Massabielle.

One cannot fail to mention, then, the sanctuary of Santa Maria di Zena, better ******** This name derives from a very special natural phenomenon that has occurred every year since the earliest times, when in the first days of September the males of winged ants migrate from central Europe in swarms to this peak to perform their nuptial flight. Once mated, the ants go to die by the hundreds of thousands in the sanctuary area. According to tradition, the culmination of this phenomenon can be observed on September 8, which has become the day of celebration at the shrine, although the exact date may vary depending on weather conditions. The importance held by the sanctuary is also due to its privileged location, which provides an amazing view, and to the presence of the hermit's cave, dug into the rock and inhabited in the 16th century by a hermit belonging to the Jesuit order. Today, unfortunately, the cave remains visible only from the outside due to a natural rock collapse that occurred in 2003.

However, thanks to its location immersed in nature and the green Apennines, while ensuring proximity to city comforts and entertainment, it allows direct contact with nature and pastimes with a manifest naturalistic imprint. In this regard, the area where our facility is located is well known among enthusiasts for its many exciting trekking trails recognized by CAI and mountain biking. The trails, thanks to their variety and diversification, allow each person to choose the one he or she prefers in terms of difficulty, scenery and mode of travel.

The aforementioned Monte Sole Historical Park also offers not only the possibility of visiting the memorial sites of the massacre, but thanks to its highly varied wildlife and plant heritage it is an excellent alternative as far as outdoor trips are concerned. The same can be said for Monte delle Formiche, which can ********, especially from the geological point of view, a wide and interesting choice of nature itineraries.

Moreover, with just a few minutes by car, you can reach the wonders of the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell'Abbadessa, the largest karst park in Emilia Romagna, where the roads and paths that cross this protected area allow you to approach scenery of unexpected beauty. From the highest points the gaze embraces the great plain and, on the clearest days, the horizon is closed by the almost unreal vision of the Alps.

With a short hike, traces of the ancient water mill route that once characterized the area between Loiano and Monghidoro can still be admired, or admire the sky and the stars, without the negative and annoying effects of city lighting, at the Loiano Astronomical Observatory.

It should also not be forgotten to mention that, for motorcycle enthusiasts, B&B Gan Eden can be an excellent starting point for tackling part of the Futa Pass route. What was once State Road 65 is defined by centaurs as an ideal road that, since it ends in Tuscany, in addition to guaranteeing breathtaking views, makes it possible to indulge in a good Florentine steak at the many restaurants in the area.

Our B&B is 39 km from the center of Bologna "la dotta," a city that falls in love, always alive by day and by night with its taverns. You can visit it in a day, but to say you have seen it a little bit you need at least a weekend. Otherwise, the only images that remain in the hasty tourist's memory are the leaning towers, Asinelli and Garisenda, which form the backdrop to Via Rizzoli, and the imposing forms of the "Giant," the monumental statue representing the god Neptune as he calms the waters, cast in bronze by Giambologna in the 16th century, which dominates the square of the same name. Too little: because Carducci's "fosca turrita Bologna" should be not only seen, but also sniffed, savored, discovered slowly, walking, as much as possible, through its 35 kilometers of porticoes, visiting its churches starting with San Petronio - second in length only to the Roman basilica of St. Peter's - with its extraordinary linear sundial, or lingering for a few minutes in the downtown market, where there is always someone discussing and explaining to you how to make a good ragù. And you can't overlook the Archiginnasio with its ancient anatomical theater, the Piazza Grande, the picture gallery full of the most famous works of the Bolognese school of Carracci, Guido Reni and Guercino, the church of Santo Stefano, built in imitation of the Temple of Jerusalem, and the lace and filigree of the Palazzo della Mercanzia. It is all in a handkerchief of space under the towers, the beating heart of the city since the Middle Ages, from which all the streets branch off in a halo.

Gan Eden is also an ideal choice for those who want a totally relaxing stay. A small paradise that rises in the heart of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, in an extremely quiet place, well away from the stress of city life, whose stay will make the daily labors become only a faded memory. In the summer, one can immerse oneself in the waters of Monterenzio's well-equipped Acquapark swimming pool while, traveling only a handful of kilometers, it is possible to reach the Villaggio Termale della Salute Più, which offers thermal baths, massages, wellness and treatments all year round.

Thanks to its location close to the Via Emilia, the main artery of economic and commercial junction, and the industrial hub of Imola, it can be the optimal choice for business stays.

Golf enthusiasts can indulge their passion at the nationally recognized Molino del Pero Golf Club, just a few kilometers from our facility, or practice horseback riding in the various stables in the area, often also equipped with a riding school.

Our B & B is entirely non-smoking, equipped with 3 double rooms each with its own private bathroom and a beautiful view overlooking a 3000 sq. m. park with sunbeds and umbrellas at the complete disposal of our guests.

The rooms also have a lounge with TV and fully equipped kitchen, complete with pots and dishes.
