A Quiet Man's Resort (New Orleans Room)

Somehow, I felt drawn—almost destined—to stay at The Quiet Man’s Resort while planning my trip to tour the Civil Rights sites in Montgomery, Alabama, and connect with the community. It turned out to be the best decision I made this summer. From the very beginning, Gary and James were wonderful communicators, reaching out well before my trip and staying in touch as I drove up from Fort Lauderdale. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by Gary and had the joy of meeting the best boys ever—Bubba and Smokey. From that moment, everything just fell into place. Being with Gary and James felt like reconnecting with uncles I hadn’t seen in years. It was a true pleasure to share dinner with them each of the four nights I stayed. We talked late into the evening, and their warmth and kindness made me feel right at home. They went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Their tips on local sights and activities were incredibly helpful. And when I needed to relax, the jacuzzi, pool, and peaceful outdoor space provided the perfect setting to unwind and reset. While my room was absolutely stunning, I found it even more fulfilling to spend time outside with Bubba and Smokey—it was just what I needed for my mental well-being. Each morning began with warmth and joy. Coming downstairs to be greeted by Bubba, Gary, James, and Smokey felt like family. Gary made some of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had, tailored to my preferences. Our conversations were thought-provoking, genuine, and filled with authenticity. I was truly sad to leave. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to create such meaningful and memorable moments. This experience was more than a stay—it was a gift. Love you guys!

Gary & James were excellent hosts. Their home is beautiful and welcoming. We will return when we are next in Montgomery.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Quiet Man's Resort hosted by the two incredibly gracious owners, James and Gary. From the start I felt completely comfortable in their beautiful home. It was wonderful to have the time to talk with them and get acquainted over meals or by the pool. They were generous with their time and recommendations. I would highly recommend a stay with them during a visit to Montgomery.

Like all previous customers, my partner and I were 100% satisfied with our stay with James and Gary. We will seek them out next time we're in Montgomery. Pre-stay comms were excellent; we arrived around dinner time and they offered us a meal...over and above! The back patio, pool, hot tub, and sitting area is so comfy and welcoming. A gem in Montgomery.

I had a wonderful stay at James and Gary's home. Beautiful home and very gracious hosts. The incredible resort like backyard was a wonderful place to spend a clothing optional afternoon and evening. Definitely on my go to list!

What a wonderful experience! As hosts, Gary and James exceeded my expectations. They are thoughtful, kind and engaging. Plus, their dogs are adorable and that is on top of the amazing accommodations. Loved the pool and hot tub.

What any amazing place to stay if you're ever swinging thru. Could even be a destination rather than a pit stop because it is so beautiful, relaxing, and fun! James and Gary embody the southern hospitality Alabama is known for!

This, to me, is the Apex of a gay men's quiet vacation spot. Gary and James home is southern perfection. I wasn't sure if I should do scenes from Gone With The Wind or Cat on a Hot Tin Roof while staying there. The back yard/pool area is Pristine and zen like. The Louisiana Room(bed room) was really charming and has a great view of the pool area. Lastly, James and Gary make you feel like you are family from the moment you arrive. Southern hospitality at its finest.

Wow, not sure I can put into words how impressed we were with Gary and James (an of course their home). We certainly felt like we were visiting friends that we have not seen in a long time. Their beautiful home reflects so much care and love and we felt privileged to have had the opportunity to stay here. Will certainly try to make future plans to include their hospitality.

This was, hands down, the most comfortable home-stay experience I ever had. The home itself is elegant and immaculate, and James and Gary were everything you could want in good hosts--warm, good-humored, flexible, and helpful. I was there on a night when another guest was also in residence, and the four of us enjoyed each others' company like we'd been friends for years.
