The Reveal
The house is a beautiful 19th century renovated mill surrounded by a river and a lush green seasonal forest. All rooms are situated on the ground floor. The house is divided into two wings and has complete underfloor heating with two indoor fireplaces and is suitable for renting in all seasons of the year.
Entering the right wing there is an open kitchen/dining room floored with beautiful terracotta tiles and a massive wooden table suitable for 8 guests. The kitchen and the dining room are divided by a shelving unit full of homegrown organic spices and herbs all yours to use in your cooking experiments. There are two bedrooms each with a double bed. Both have an amazing view of the river directly from the bed.
The left wing features a 47 sq. meter living room/atelier with cathedral ceiling. Toward the river, there is a panoramic window and a balcony. For a romantic evening, you can even light up the indoor fireplace.

The Mill is located 45 minutes drive from Zagreb airport, Croatia and 1 hour from Ljubljana city center, where I live. It is only 15 minutes away from the city of Brežice and the nearby Thermal Riviera Terme Čatež which is the biggest and the most famous in Slovenia. Not far away there is also a beautiful island city Kostanjevica na Krki / Slovenian Venice where you can find a lot of cultural events. The neighborhood offers many great cycling trails and wine routes where you can try local traditional wine called ''Cviček''. Running in the forest or on the field paths along Krka can be just as relaxing as swimming in the river! Fishing on a boat and canoeing is very popular and we have one boat and a canoe at your disposal! Only 600 meters from the mill you can find natural hot springs with a constant year temperature of 27 °C. Perfect for a visit on your everyday walk.

In short: just go, you won't regret it. The house & gardens are stunning. Although it appears a bit isolated, it's not far to supermarkets etc. If you like cooking, the kitchen is amazing and has everything you might need. If you like hiking/cycling there's plenty of that. If you like to sit and watch nature, there's plenty of that on the river too. The living room has a projector with Chromecast so you can watch movies etc. The Tochka beach bars in Kostanjevica and Krška vas are worth a visit - good food & drink by the river. Vid's parents live nearby and came with local sausages & produce and stayed for drinks; a lovely evening. I could go on... the only problem you will have is actually finding availability in the calendar, we were lucky with that.
