This part of the coast is known for battles during world war 1 and 2. There is a museum just beneath the monument of King Albert-1. You can also go on the monument, where you have an amazing view of Nieuwpoort and the surroundings. For other museums you can visit the website of Nieuwpoort. You can even go from Nieuwpoort till Ieper to follow "the front" where all the fightings happened in WW2. Not for far from the house you have the pleasure marina (one of the biggest of Europe). There you can have beautiful walks from the old marina to the new marina and even to the beach of Nieuwpoort-Bad. To get to Nieuwpoort-Bad you can also take the ferry (20-25 min walk from the house). If you want to go out in gay bars there is one known in Oostende called "Valentino". Otherwise in Oostende you can have a nice night out in the street called "Langestraat". If you want to go out eating there's a lot of choice in Nieuwpoort, middelkerke, Oost-duinkerke, ... . Almost all places are LGBTQ+ friendly. One of my favorites are the Vecino (tapas bar in Westende-dorp owned by a gay couple), Barenzo (also Westende-dorp) and Le Couver (restaurant in Nieuwpoort). If you want to know more you can always ask me. To go out I suggest looking at Oostende. there are plenty of opportunities to drink and dance. Everything I'm talking about is accessible with the tram, the bus and of course the car.
