I was lucky enough to experience United Kingdom in all its colors. I’d love to share what I found.

Carson·5·May. 2026· "Oh my goodness, I had SUCH a lovely stay on Phoenix's canal boat. It was everything I was hoping for, and more. Having never even set foot on a canal boat before, much less stayed on one, I was really excited to get a taste of what the life is like. I found it absolutely fascinating to learn about the quirks, and environmental conscientiousness, of life on a canal boat: relying on gas and generated electricity, filling up the water tank, maximizing space, running the engine for hot showers, maintaining a non-plumbed toilet, even simple little things like how you open the front door! Just delightful, and Phoenix was very kind to indulge all my curious questions! At some point, I should stay with him on a day when he needs to navigate to a new mooring; that would be super cool.
The boat was really comfortable and cozy, with a sofa that folds out into a bed, and a dedicated bedroom at the rear; Phoenix kindly gave me a choice of where I preferred to sleep. I'm very sensitive to cold, so I'd been conscious of the fact that a boat on the river might be chilly in early May, but between the gorgeous log fire and an electric blanket, Phoenix kept the space super comfortable. And it was surprisingly quiet, unless someone was yelling right outside; maybe it's because I have a downtown apartment back home, but I didn't even notice the sound of the waves against the hull except when a passing boat churned them up! It was a lovely little oasis, which Phoenix has redesigned and decorated with obvious care and thoughtfulness, including fun quirky décor like fairy lights, stone statuettes, laser patterns projected on the ceiling, and even his own paintings.
Above all, Phoenix is a truly wonderful guy and a consummate host. I felt immediately at ease with him; his warm, sunny personality radiated from the moment we met, and he's so considerate, welcoming me with a non-alcoholic cocktail and frequently offering warm drinks or various breakfast options, and generally looking after my comfort. I know it must be a challenge sharing your compact living space with a stranger, but I felt enthusiastically welcomed. And Phoenix is a very easy conversionalist, no doubt helped by the fascinating life he's led and the interesting paths he's taken. I had such a fun time chatting and laughing about everything from our similar philosophies on male friendships, to religion, to Eastenders (on which I might now be hooked), and kicking back with a good horror film.
I also have to add my sincere thanks for Phoenix's flexibility, allowing me to check in several hours early so that I could drop off my massive suitcase, even when he wasn't home. It made a huge difference, and I enjoyed getting a sneak peek at the boat before he gave me the grand tour later that evening!
I'm really glad I booked a two-night stay with Phoenix, and I could very easily have stayed for longer. Thanks for providing such a memorable visit and a lovely new friendship! "

Reed·5·Jul. 2025· "Very poor lighting in the room. We had asked that our very heavy comforter be changed too two sheets. This was never done. They were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, there is no refrigerator and no access to ice. You should've been a good coffee maker. There wasn't. The room cost us the same as a four star hotel. Staff were good and helpful."

MADHUR·4·Aug. 2020· "Funky hotel. Clean, functional bedroom with nice linens and plush towels. Loved the BCorp info all around the hotel. Breakfast pastry was good. Loved the EV charging points at the parking spaces. Great views even from the 4th floor.
Check-in kiosk doesn't enable parking reservation. I called ahead for a parking reservation, but was given an incorrect daily rate. TV didn't work in the room but at least the receptionist tried 4 different remotes to no avail. Coffee machine didn't work at the main bar, it dispensed tepid milk. Only one UK socket in the room by the bedside, none near the table, made it difficult to work from the room."
