Manchester is one of the most gay-friendly destinations in the UK. Today, its gay district has been admired by millions of people who tuned in to the first version of the famous TV series Queer As Folk.

Manchester's gay district is centered around Canal Street. This is where you will find a multitude of gay and lesbian bars and clubs. At night, Canal Street is literally invaded by clubbers, but also by curious people who like lively districts.

Two most popular gay clubs in Manchester
Walking down Canal Street is a real pleasure. Especially in the evening before people go clubbing. Two of the most popular gay clubs/restaurants are Velvet and Taurus. Both establishments rely on entertainment and changing programming to attract as many people as possible.

Manchester doesn't only vibrate with these two clubs. Here, you'll find several! Before going out to one of the clubs, head to Via, a bar made on the long side where you can meet great people or just chat with friends. There is also the Rembrants bar, which is particularly popular with gays, and the Union Bear, which is very popular with bears.

The people walking down the street are mostly gay men who are used to the area, but there are also a few tourists who are curious and excited to go clubbing at night.

For many decades, Canal Street was known as Manchester's trendy neighborhood. Time changes and so do neighborhoods. Today, a certain wave of prostitution is seen in the area, which annoys a bit the gays and lesbians who have fun in the neighborhood. However, Canal Street is still the gay district of Manchester.
