The gays have found their Rennes

Some cities reveal themselves during the summer. Rennes prefers to wait until the beginning of the school year to reveal all its charms. The Breton capital is, in fact, above all, a student city, which lives at the rhythm of the university years. If the months of July and August are very quiet - due to student migration -, the rest of the year, the gay community of Rennes is very dynamic. It takes advantage of its five bars, its sex club, not to mention its discotheque and its famous gay-friendly restaurants.

All the gay life is concentrated in the center. " In a quarter of an hour, you can visit all the establishments, " explains Martial, the dynamic owner of l'Emblème, one of the city's must-see gay and lesbian bars - and probably the one most open to girls. a few steps away, on rue de Saint-Malo - a small cobbled street, unfortunately open to traffic - there is a very popular sex club, the Cosmos.the Cosmos is a popular sex club, a "mini Depot" chosen by lovers of sensations, but also two charming gay-friendly restaurants: La Moule rieuse and La Grolle. The place is ideal, when the weather is good, to eat on the terrace before attacking the Rennes nights.

On the other side of the Vilaine, the river that runs through Rennes, is L'Anathème, another gay bar in the city. at closing time, night owls head for the discotheque Le Batchi, a very festive house-electro temple (the place is currently closed for renovation, ed. note).

Finally, it is good to live in Rennes when you are gay. Even if the city is perceived differently depending on where you come from. The Bretons find it attractive as a big city (it's the biggest in Brittany) and see it as a place to emigrate to" to live without hiding. on the other hand, those who come from further away see it as a small provincial town where it is good to spend a vacation;

It is undoubtedly this position as a medium-sized city on a national scale that makes it possible to find many meeting places and a rather well-paced nightlife, but also a form of conviviality. Rennes is no longer shy, it just wants to reveal itself...
