Camp Munich

CAMP, short for "Cruising and Men Play" rather than anything kitsch, is one of Munich's best-known men-only cruise bars, in the heart of the Glockenbachviertel gay quarter just south of Müllerstraße. Cozy and unfussy, its friendly big bar area gives way to what's billed as the largest darkroom and cruising zone in the Munich scene, a maze of glory holes, a cage, a Saint Andrew's cross, a sling, and a play area, with gay films on the monitors setting the mood. Open seven days a week with a different theme daily, from bearded "Bart CAMP" Thursdays to weekend Party & Cruising nights and Monday's members-only Naked & Underwear party, it draws a mixed-age crowd for a genuinely no-pressure, straightforward, sexy night out. A bit of Munich history too: as Fred's Pub, this was the first bar in the city to show porn, back in the 1970s.
