Gay Guide Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale Gay Pride: January 16, 2027
Written by
May 17 2026

Fort Lauderdale's gay scene is built around a geography that visitors from bigger cities find disorienting at first: there is no single neighbourhood, no equivalent of Chueca or Hell's Kitchen. Instead, gay Fort Lauderdale operates through the beach, through the bars clustered on Wilton Drive in the adjacent Wilton Manors - which bills itself as 'the Island City' and has had an LGBTQ+ majority city council - and through the resort hotels along the strip. This is Florida's adult gay resort capital, distinct from Miami's international energy: older on average, more affluent, more settled. The weather from November through April is what the rest of the northern hemisphere is dreaming about, the waterways are navigable by boat between venues, and the drag shows at the Ramrod and Georgie's Alibi have been running for decades. misterb&b bookings at Fort Lauderdale peak in winter - the inverse of most northern hemisphere gay destinations. 🏳️‍🌈 Fort Lauderdale has invested significantly in its LGBTQ+ infrastructure over the past decade: the beach area north of Las Olas Boulevard has been developed with gay-owned hotels and beach clubs, and the city government has been actively welcoming of the community in ways that distinguish it from some other Florida municipalities. The Winter Party Festival in March is among the international gay circuit events that regularly sell out. What makes Fort Lauderdale work as a destination separate from Miami is the lower intensity: calmer beaches, more affordable accommodation, a residential gay community in Wilton Manors that gives the metropolitan area a genuine community character beyond the party circuit. The Intracoastal Waterway running through the city, the boating culture, the access to the Everglades to the west: Fort Lauderdale offers a South Florida experience with more breathing room. For LGBTQ+ verified accommodation, misterb&b Fort Lauderdale covers everything.

"So you arrive at 7:00 PM on Friday evening, first stop, Hunters. The place is packed by 6:00 PM, two large rooms inside and an upstairs. The outside patio, has 2 bars and another DJ, spinning. On Saturday evening I would suggest going to Eagle. Wanting a different vibe? Cross the street to the "Gym Bar" or "The Pub". Great shows and music. Sunday tea dance starts around 4:00 PM at Scandals. Have a great time!"

"Friday night usually starts with dinner and drinks on Las Olas before heading to Wilton Manors for nightlife and bar hopping along Wilton Drive. Saturday is for brunch at Cafe Bastille, relaxing at Haulover nude beach, and enjoying the tropical vibe. Sunday is slower, coffee at The Alchemist Café, a walk around Wilton Manors, and just enjoying the laid-back, welcoming energy Fort Lauderdale is known for."

"A slow morning with coffee on your private patio here at Double Rainbow Suites, maybe walk to Storks bakery for a breakfast sandwich or a pastry, bike to the beach and enjoy the guys tanning at Sebastian Beach, in the afternoon head back to Double Rainbow Suites for a dip in the pool. Walk to Wilton Drive for margarita outside of Tulios, a lite Greek inspired dinner at Ethos and a late night of dancing at Hunters or Georges Alibi."
