Lavender Auberge de la Croix du Pape

We are renovating the Croix du Pape, which is no longer open as a restaurant upstairs. Enjoy spectacular views of Eze and the Med. The Auberge takes its name from the cross outside which commemorates Pope Pius VII's visit in 1814. Croix du Pape is situated on the great driving road Route de la Grand Corniche, so it is ideal if you have a car to get around. It takes about 15 minutes to get down to Nice and 20 minutes from Monaco. Italy isn't that far away either for day trips... such as the market in Ventimiglia on a Friday or San Remo on Saturday. Plenty of cyclists train along the route. There are Lignes d'Azur buses 82 and 83 which pass nearby and terminate at Plateau de la Justice near the Hermitage Hotel. The 82 travels west down to Nice via Eze on the Moyenne Corniche... and the 83 travels east through Eze towards Monaco and Beaullieu. You can then take the 100 bus which runs along the coast on the Basse Corniche. between Monaco, Cap d'Ail, Eze Bord de Mer, Beaullieu and Villefranche to Nice. You might prefer to take the coastal train which stops right above Villefranche's "sandy" beach.... it's more like ground-up shells. Villefranche is one of our favourite spots on the Côte d'Azur. And it doesn't take long to drive there from Croix du Pape.
