The Reveal

Centrally situated 9th floor, sunny one bedroom apartment next to Parliament, with spectacular views over Cape Town city, mountains, gorgeous Company Gardens city park and St George's Cathedral. You can self cater or find the best breakfast and lunch bagels at Kleinsky's on Church Square, literally outside my apartment building. Bread, Milk & Honey and Afro's Chicken are situated downstairs for extra choice. I'm close to all amenities and within 2-10 minutes walk to good coffee, great bars, restaurants and stores. Gay bars, restaurants and Hot House sauna and steam rooms are in De Waterkant area, which is a short 10 min taxi ride or 15 walk (although would not recommend walking after dark). Short or long term lets considered. Off-street parking available on request. NOTE: Minimum 3 days low season and 5 days in high/local holiday season (Dec/Jan), however, it is best to check with me first. One spacious bedroom with queen size bed. New bathroom. Kitchen. Generous living area (lounge/dining room). DSTV cable television network and wi-fi provided. There are also plenty of new books to read. Great views from balcony, which runs full width of the apartment. Views also enjoyed from the bedroom and lounge. Cleaning service is once a week (extra days on request at R450/day). There is a washing machine in the kitchen and a laundry service close by. For those who like to keep fit, there is a Virgin Active gym nearby at Wembley Square (10 min walk). The mountains are of course the ultimate workout.

The neighborhood is safe to walk about and close to all hip and trendy neighborhoods of the city. The city employs CCID guards to patrol for extra safety and directions. This is a city so I always advise guests to just be streetwise and all will be okay. During season there are always 'chancers' who come to town, so just be alert. Museums and art galleries are also on my doorstep and gay bars within a few minutes by taxi or about 15 minute walk in the day (would not recommend walking after dark). Main beaches are a 10-15 minute taxi ride away (depending on seasonal traffic).

There is no parking in my building. I make regular use of Uber or I walk. There is, however, metered street parking in the area and I can also direct you to undercover paid parking arcades nearby.

The MyCityBus public transport is also easily accessible. I know the city well and as the former editor and now editor-at-large of a local luxury lifestyle mag, I can offer some good guidance on what to see and do in our magical city.

The flat is super lovely and artsy, I had a great time staying over. Location is very central, as described. Gary is very accommodating and easy to reach. Fully recommended.

Gary's apartment ticks all the boxes. The location is central and great for people who want to explore Cape Town on foot. It's surprisingly spacious for a one bedroom apartment and has everything you need. Security, load shedding and internet access are managed seamlessly, which, if you have travelled to South Africa, you will know can often intrude on your holiday enjoyment. The apartment is lovely with a balcony with amazing views whether in the morning over coffee or evening over a glass of South African wine. The apartment has a wonderful, carefully curated collection of art and artefacts that really make it feel like a home rather than a sterile holiday rental. Gary provides great local insights and managed to point me towards what became my favourite coffee shop during my stay. He was also very helpful when I needed laundry done and his washer was temporarily out of order.

Gary's apartment is quite central, nice and sunny. From the balcony there is a great view on central Cape Town (Company Gardens, cathedral, etc.).... The apartment is fully equipped with everything that is needed. It is quite central and many things of interest are within a short walking distance. Gary has been very friendly, helpful and flexible. Good communication, quick replies. His apartment at the 9th floor is like a safe harbour from where to start your exploration of Cape Town and surroundings area.
