About the Place

Hieizan Sakamoto , lit. the base of Mt Hiei, is a quite small temple village about 1,350 years old ,well that is the last temple anniversary I went to . It basically was a town built for retired monks from the Enryakuji temple complex farther up the mountain ( 15 temples there ) UNESCO site , lots of hiking (something I do not do )

I have security camera(s) outside of my place

Nearby Attractions

Sorry no night clubs in Sakamoto , but it is a nice base to do things from. that might be going to the 300 year old soba restaurant down the road, visiting the 50 local temples, participating in rituals Ritsu Inn..burning of votives at 6am ..yes I have done that one ..and as foreign guests..we dont have many you are still a little special , and even might be invited to lunch at the temple, my last guest was. so basically it is a smaller more intimate version of Kyoto without the other thousands of tourists.
