We offer a comfortable, quiet, detached room with ensuite, adjacent to the main house. Enjoy the beautiful morning sun and views of the harbour. Independent access. Light breakfast provided. 20 minutes' walk to the cafés of Cuba St. =====
I'm generally able to go ******** messages and enquiries between 14:00 and 20:00 NZT, so bear with me if you don't hear back straight away. =====
The Space =====
We offer the best of all worlds – you can enjoy your independence and privacy in the room, or join us in the house for conversation and company. Our home has a sunny north-facing outlook and, even though we're close to the heart of the city, it's peaceful and quiet, with virtually no traffic noise. There's a standard double bed, classic 1950s oak furniture, a clothes hanger, and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. WiFi is included. We provide a light breakfast: muesli, tea and coffee, and juice. =====
Guest Access =====
You have access to the room throughout your stay. We welcome guests to join us in the house when we're home. Laundry facilities available - just ask us if you want to use the washing machine, dryer, or iron. =====
Interaction with Guests =====
Your hosts are Mark and Ross. We enjoy meeting and chatting with our guests and will fill you in on what to do in Wellington. =====
The Neighbourhood =====
We're up on the hill overlooking the Aro Valley; there are 200 steps in all to climb from Aro St at the bottom of the valley to our place. The Aro Valley offers cafes and a boutique brewery and bar, and it's another 10 - 15 minutes' walk from there to the city centre. =====
Getting Around =====
We hardly ever take the car into the city – we walk or cycle everywhere. Parking is available in the street. The house is 50 steps up from the street (Durham St). If you're on foot, there are 200 steps in all to climb from Aro St onto Durham St and then up to the house. The Nr. 9 bus runs along Aro St through the CBD and on to the railway station, Mon – Fri only, last bus to Aro St 6.10 pm. Evenings and weekends the Nr. 7 bus takes you to Willis St near the bottom of Aro St, from where it's a 10 - 15 minute walk to our place. It's approx $12 for a taxi to the CBD and $35 to the airport. =====
Because the house is 50 steps up from the street, it isn't suitable for people with significant mobility problems. =====
Walking times: to Cuba St—20 minutes; to Courtenay Pl—25 minutes; to Lambton Quay and the railway station—30 minutes.
