The Reveal

Short Term Vacation Rental Certificate SVR-00083 / Prices include state and local taxes.

The best description is an urban cabin. I strive to keep it as open as possible for less clutter and still provide you with a comfortable stay. There are practical, modern elements mixed with vintage pieces that hold their own in the space. There is a galley kitchen with a fridge and stovetop oven. The windows provide for great natural light all day, and for any afternoon thunderstorms it's the best view on the property. The garden is expansive and very peaceful. It's situated behind a large colonial revival house ********, and both sit on a 1/4 acre lot. There are 70 ft tall water oaks that shade the property. And open as it is, it feels very much like a private retreat.

If the space is available I will give a discount to visiting writers for longer stays of a week or more. If you are looking to book for a month or longer, I can also provide a discounted rate. Please inquire further when you are looking to book.

Just a few blocks south of Forsyth Park, it is within very close walking distance of Blowin' Smoke, Cotton & Rye, Butterheads, Foxy Loxy, Elizabeth's, Local 1110, American Legion, Le Chai, Sentient Bean, PERC, Green Truck, and Brighter Day. It is also in close proximity to the Starland District (galleries, Starland Cafe, Back in the Day, and The Wormhole), The Florence, and a few of SCAD's major buildings, including Arnold Hall. The main central library is 3 blocks away. There are 2 older bikes to use for your stay, and a large garden and patio to enjoy.

This is as central as you can get south of the historic squares, less the congestion. There is a city bus line that stops on the corner, but otherwise it is 5 minutes by car from here to River Street, 15 minutes by bike (with a dedicated bike lane on opposite corner), and about half hour if your hoofing it (unless you stop for a beer to escape the midday sun).

For Tybee visitors, it is a few blocks from Victory Drive, and from there it takes about 25 minutes to drive. I do have beach chairs, large towels, and a cooler for you to use.

There will be a small variety of breakfast items provided, usually including organic or locally sourced coffee, milk, juice, eggs, cereal, and some beverages.

(Note: there are shades and curtains on every window for privacy. I intentionally edit out any televisions, but wifi is provided in case you want to stream movies or music on your own wireless device.)

If there is no availability on the calendar, ask about the availability for the upstairs unit (Cabin Apartment 2, which does have a small TV and cable)

We loved our stay in this "cabin" (really a Carriage House that feels like a studio and cabin all in one). It's in the backyard of a large Savannah home, with a cute courtyard out front, and a private gate with a free parking space. The apartment is spacious, clean, full of amenities, and within easy walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops, and Forsyth Park. If you wanted to spend more time in the Historic District, it's a bit longer walk and you might want to drive; we walked the whole once and it was fine, but a longer haul than most people would prefer. The bed was comfy, the tub was quaint but fun (not really a shower; be aware) , the kitchen had everything we needed for minimal food prep and drinks, and the furniture allowed us to have reading time as well as cocktail time while not exploring Savannah. The way the sun streams into the front windows early in the morning was warm and magical; we loved that. Richard is a good host and left us many guides for the Savannah area, and we were never without ideas or inspiration. There is another rental apartment upstairs, but it was quiet enough that it didn't bother us at all. We had a great stay in this cabin apartment (it feels like a cabin because of the rough floors, fireplace, and coolness) and would definitely recommend it for a unique experience in Savannah.
